You know what's up with this club don't ya we only have 2 strikers on the books and one of them is young and inexperienced. Same again at centre half we are playing Basham and McEveley neither who are in their natural preferred positions, it can work for a while but when it matters they will make mistakes and let you down as proven with silly penalties given away recently on top of the fact that we can't defend set pieces for shit.

Seems the set piece problem is finally dawning - Doyle in the Stir

“Set-pieces have been a problem all season,” Doyle said. “Preston got three goals, from a free-kick, a corner and a penalty so that’s something we’ve got to sort out. Set-pieces seem to have been the way teams have been scoring against us so we’ve got to address that among ourselves.”

Que massive overreaction.

We got done 1-3 at home by one of the better teams in the league and drew at home to spurs a couple weeks ago. Get over it.

We've still got an incredibly talented squad which WILL make the playoffs. And as we know Nigel loves a knockout competition so I think this is the best shot we've had a promotion for years. We also won't have just missed out on 2nd and be totally deflated going into the playoffs.

I admire your positive spirit, however, whilst I think we have improved our squad, I wouldn't term them as "incredibly talented" at all; I would like to point out a couple of issues here.

It's only a "knockout competition" once you're in the play-off final and to get there we will have to beat either Preston, Swindon or MKD over 2 games .... this is something we are clearly not capable of doing with the present squad. The reasons being:
a) we leak goals particularly from set pieces, partly due to having the majority of the squad being midgets
b) we haven't got, nor is there any realistic prospect of having a sizeable, strong, fast, consistent striker who can score the goals we will need.
c) our midfield is inconsistent at best, regularly overpowered and outmuscled since the start of the season and packed with midgets.

Sorry, but I'm expecting to have to put up with another season in this agricultural division, because we have "sleepwalked" into obscurity in the League, such has been our excitement with the Cup exploits.

I REALLY, hope I'm wrong ......... but I've watched the sexy R&WW for long enough to know when were actually not quite sexy enough .....

I'm not fussed about going out last night tbh

The issue with height and strength in the team is one that could badly cost us. We can have all the talent and skill in the world, but if we get to the play offs a team like Preston could bully us out of it. If we can't defend set pieces then we probably won't go up.

If we do go up and still can't defend set pieces then we will come straight back down.

Funny how it has apparently just dawned on the players and back room staff . Pity they didn't ask a fan in the street sometime ago.

Thino the defeat was reason for concern given the manner but not reason for yet another fans inquest.

Tone of WWF's emails of late are very anti clough. Both of them.
