Clough's demeanour...

Compared interviews of his pre match and post match videos for Coventry.

Not sure I see much different in his demeanor and seems to go in to detail where he thinks what went wrong.

Maybe he just hates being interviewed for RS and I probably would too.

Maybe I'm on my own with this but he sounded like Mr Sensible to me, knows what's wrong and will fix it.

We could always turn to Brian the Blade instead?

Exactly what I was thinking too but then I remembered he gave a similar interview after the Bristol game. He then proceeds to play the same starting 11 against Coventry.

I think the team on Tuesday is immaterial.

What is important is that we do NOT lose - ok, so it might be a drab 0-0 or hopefully (for once) a real streak of luck and we pox a 1 nil win.

The result sometimes has to outweigh the performance.

Didn't we go to Coventry looking for a 0-0 clean sheet ,didn't work out very well.

No we picked what Nigel thought was his best side, the same side he picked the week before to win our first home game, it just isn't working, time to change formation and tactics.

There isn't much wrong with the formation, playing the right players in the right position would be a start, then take it from there.

Looks as though there's an extra crease or two on the forehead since April/May time.

Really is crushing how the optimism from the end of last season has been 100% crushed. Hopefully, with a couple of good wins and performances, it can be rebuilt quickly, but it's hard to see where that spark will come from in the short term. P'boro needs to be a workmanlike 100% run your arse off performance, a la last season. Doyle and Collins back, Baxter up front, Alcock on the right, with Davis in front of him.

if there's one thing we don't need it's Doyle back in the team. We need mobility, tacking and passing, not Doyle.

Haven't heard his interview so can't comment on his actual manner. However, I wouldn't be expecting him to come out with a spinning bow tie and water squirting flower after a defeat like that.

Chin up Cloughy lad, pick the best players in their best positions, should be easily good enough in this division.

The same Doyle who captained us during the best period of last season.

We lack real leadership out there at the moment. A 17 year old and a new signing in the centre of midfield, together with another youngster and new signing at the back. We need some calmness and familiarity in there.

Doyle came on Saturday and must have lost the ball atleast 6 times,he ain't the answer.Get Basham holding and tell him not to shift, you know, the position he has played most of his career:rolleyes:,at the level above aswell. He hasn't automatically turned into a shit player overnight.Play him in his right position, then, and only then, can people even start to write him off.

Collins is a different kettle of fish completely. He has brought Maguire on all the way through his career, now is the time for him to do it with Mcgahey.

Come on Cloughy, get a grip lad before its too late.We all know how that loosing every weak feeling is and its hard to get out of.

Depends if we deploy Doyle to the job he was doing the end of last season. Although I would never give him the captains armband back though.

At this rate I see Collins and Doyle probably leaving soon.

Looking at the Bladesplayer interview above, I can't see anything wrong with his demeanour. He just tells it how he saw the game unfold which was similar to the Forum twitter feed. i.e. first thirty minutes playing well and could have been a goal up but then rubbish after that

He is doing well enough pointing out where we went wrong but I don't see him doing much to fix it at the moment. I just really hope the line up tomorrow night it is completely different.

No but getting involved in drunken shenanigans when one should know better is.

Just. Wow. Back. Atchya.

Something that is just "drunken shenanigans" doesn't come with 5 years for rape. This was rape, check his rap sheet. It's not a misdemeanor, the maximum penalty is life.

We at least agree he should have known better, although possibly not for the same reason.

You have to smile when you see that the last comment on this was the day before our first league win. Clough's demeanour hasn't altered since he's bloody been here, it was just a stick to hit him with when it wasn't going our way. This thread looked nonsensical then and looks bloody stupid now

I think the questions about Maguire by RS started to piss him off most the time. That combined with losing the opening two matches and the clear unrest with Butler.

What you replying to it for then?

Read some of the posts calling for a change in personnel, tactics and formation which we have had since the Cov game as myself and others were calling for and results have picked up.

Clough did sound down after the first two games and I fully stand by what I said.

Same here.

Changes to the starting line up were needed.

He made them and the key changes which for me were bringing Collins and Doyle back in to the line up. As bizarre as it sounds, I think it helped having their experience back in the team. We all know both of them will need replacing eventually though.

He should have sounded down after losing the first two games. Would you have expected him to have been brimming over with happiness?
