Before i start this thread, this isn't a "wish we had Clough back" thread, its a discussion based upon the last two years to the present day. D

Do you think we made the correct decision in getting rid of Nigel number one and replacing him with Nigel number two? The reason i ask is because at times this season i feel some of the games we've lost Clough would have got us a resultt all be it a grinded out one with boring football, but then on the flip side i've seen some games we've won this season that i think Clough wouldn't have got any points at all or would have certainly struggled in.

On the basis of it, we've had Nigel Clough who deployed a more defensive sitting back counter attacking team, ultimately fail, or not so much fail, but not really improved our league position.

Then we've had the attacking pass and move style that Adkins brings, which again hasn't really improved our league position (although its early yet.)

We'll still get into the top 6 that is without doubt.

Never thought I'd say this as I wanted Clough gone more than anyone towards the end of last season, but I do believe his first priority was to get 2 CB's signed, and he said so himself, finally. And I do believe he would have done that, and as a result we would be better off now than we are. Although Adkins has a much more likeable character, he's done nothing about the areas most in need of strengthening. It does come across as rather arrogant that he thought his impact alone could sort the defence. The board might be to blame for not providing funds now but Adkins had the choice to buy 2 CB's but instead opted for 2 strikers, an area that was one of our strongest (unbelievably) at the time with Done on top form. That mistake is inexcusable in my book and we're paying the price now with the poor results.

Adkins is a top class manager. Clough is not. Adkins goes for the win, Clough didn't. The draws we could have got under Clough are easily equalled by the games we've gone for, and got, a win instead of playing for a draw.

Adkins is stuck with the mess Clough has left him, as Clough had Weir's. Clough signed a shed load of crap. Adkins has hardly been spectacular in the transfer market but he seems to have been limited in his ability to bring people in.

It's not early in the season it's 25% gone.

Getting in the top six on current form is a pipe dream.

Seriously. Wots the point ?

Adkins or Bassett ?

Adkins or Warnock ?

Adkins is our manager and will NOT be going anywhere anytime soon. You can quote me on that.

Back him through thick and thin or go home.

Or are people seriously thinking a change of manager is in order once again ?

That's worked well for us in the last 5 years hasn't it !!!!!

UTB

Ps search "Cue massive overreaction" thread from many moons ago. Nowts changed ;-)

looking at the voting it seems most don't yet blame Adkins for the mess we are in, which is preety fair. He's made it clear he wants a CH and a CM. Needs to sort these areas and hope the JB comes back on fire
