Clough is a very good communicator.

Your right he was sacked because he made sure that if he was going he would be sacked to ensure a payout of his contract, but the point l was trying to make is that you have got yourselves one really good manager. I am sure that Clough along with lots of other managers in football have a public face for interviews which do not reflect what is really going on behind in the dressing room or boardroom.

I think he's the best signing this club has had in a long time. .I get the impression he's in this for the long haul as long as he's allowed to do it his way..
I'm not worrying about who we sign/ release etc.... I trust this manager. .he's a breath of fresh air and we are lucky to have him. Utb
Very good point upton blade,i'd suggest we get him signed on an improved extended deal just incase them clubs come knocking in the summer. As quite alot of us know and have said, money talks in football and if a good enough offer comes along,no matter how loyal he is,he could well go.I'm not saying he is going by the way,i'm simply saying he's more important than any signing we make because he has clearly shown he can work with some very average players at best.

Very interesting article.

Great credit is given to Clough for his patience, his judgement of a player and the character of his players, his playing style and his sound principles. We can see all those things already. The journalist comments that the move to United might have done him a favour in releasing him from the shadow of his father at his old club. Certainly most of us believe Clough matches the character and ethos of the club and us fans, incredibly so in fact.

There are a couple of criticisms by the journalist who is otherwise obviously a Clough fan. He says that our manager is naturally cautious and also slow with his substitutions and tactical adjustments. After a brilliant run of results I can nevertheless relate to both those points ( Wembley in particular) and hope they are not weaknesses which will hold us back in due course. I think we can storm League 1 next season but life in the Championship will be tough obviously.

Clough has got so much control and power at Bramall Lane, probably as much or more than he had at Burton; he has a massive opportunity to build a club from the ashes, much like his father did with two clubs. I have no doubts whatsoever that he will build a talented squad with honest and genuine players. I hope he has the match awareness to really push them on to great things and that the Derby Board misjudged him.
