I think I read Michael Doyle saying this when he left us. I was gobsmacked when I read this but looking back I realised that it was a big reason why we conceded so many goals in set pieces last season. Hope we take advantage of this tomorrow

It seems incredible given the percentage of goals that are scored from set pieces, particularly at this level. What are the chances of us losing the game tomorrow to a set piece?

Seem to recall Glenn Hoddle as England manager said no point practising penalties, you've either got the ability or you haven''t. Same fucking arrogance and same failure as a result. Really hope we tonk Burton!

99% of our corners don't beat the first defender so don't hold your breath mate.
I genuinely think they should come and fetch me from the kop when we get a corner.
As long as someone can carry me if it's at the Bramall Lane end , I guarantee you a whipped in cross that beats the first defender and dips and swerves out of the goalies reach to be smashed home by Mick Jones or John Tudor or Colin Addison.
Damn these fuckin painkillers have set me off again.
Anyway , while I'm at it , why don't we have someone at the near post to anticipate the inevitably crap corner and help it into the danger area with a nice back header. You never see that these days !

I'm not sure if practice makes as much difference as being really tall and having technical attributes like height, power, jumping and determination etc.
Basically if you are as soft as sh!t like we are at the back you will concede at set pieces, shocking how little dominance Edgar has despite being tall

Hmmmm...Don't seem to recall that particular skill-set from our lunch-time kick abouts at school. However I will always have rib-tickling memories of you competing with the wind in trying to catch that ball as it was blown off towards Blackpool Tower on that memorable weekend away...

But agree with a total inability of any one to consistently put in a decent corner or for someone to assume that it ain't gonna make it and sit on the front post for a knock-on - shit I used to teach that to my u-10's when I first started coaching - with success! Then again, if we did, the only player who's shown he can get on the end of it is Collins and hopefully, with this being his only talent, we're shut of him if we stay with the 3-5-2 - which we should.

And strange how things go full circle - most of the last 2-3 years, I'm sure the players used to look forward to playing away and getting away from the expectation of BDTBL - probably not the case now, is it in those tight little away grounds with some of our "support"

Anyway, let's hope Clough brings a reaction out of them tomorrow

But that nearly paid off against Rochdale. We swung the corner straight in to the first man on the near post and he glanced it on against the inside of his own post. Picking that first man out and hoping for an own goal might be a better bet than relying on our finishing!

You would have thought Collins would be a decent bet for the first goal tonite

One with a point to prove ..................

Right now we have a team that can't even take a fucking throw-in properly. They just stand there like gormless Subbuteo figures until we throw it to an opposition player. Don't hold your breath for anything as complicated as a decent free kick or a corner.........

OMG don't get into the subject of Baden Powell's licensed abusers , you might get more than is decent on a footy forum. Like me recalling that our history teacher was the school scout troop leader and his favourite punishment for failing a badge was the double nipple roll with pike. No, it's not in the scout handbook these days.

Just practices scoring and sitting on a 1 goal lead.

Is anybody at the game or listening to it? Due to other commitments, i couldn't get there until about 8:15 and i'm bunged up with a cold so last minute with the rain i decided to go home and warm up a bit. I'm a lightweight i know. Only just got in, see we're losing by the inevitable 1-0. Any hope of a comeback?

And I'm stuck in the south of France becoming more and more pleased abut being here

According to BBC we've had 4 shots to their 12, with 1 on target to their 6 but we've had 53 % possession. Says it all. It's also freezing here and we've had snow

I'm officially getting fed up with this now. I really can't face another defeat. Should have bet on 1-0 to them, they win every sodding game 1-0. And that's before Negative Nige went there.

Nigel 0:1 Nigel
Looks like another wasted season.

My God they don't deserve support like that.

4 shots to 12, 1 corner to 7. Would anybody really care if he did get the sack? He's going to go at the end of the season anyway. There's not even any glimmer of improvement, it's a good job we're miles clear otherwise relegation would be on the cards.
