If I'm the last person to have seen this then apologies, but if not then it's nice to know our manager has his priorities where they ought to be.

Clough was interviewed on Radio Sheffield and commented on the issues surrounding the kick off time for the game against Charlton. This is condensed but still captures the essence of what Nigel had to say - "We have sympathy for football supporters. You get a cup quarter final and it is the first time that Charlton have been there for eight years and the first time we have reached this stage for quite some time"

"It is a 12pm kick off on a Sunday and there is not a train out of London to get them here for the kick off"

"I find it staggering. This competition is supposed to be for the supporters. Charlton are confident of selling out their allocation but that shouldn't be the point. Fans shell out a fortune watching their clubs and we should be trying to help them out in every way that we can"

The FA and it's paymasters, the TV companies, have long relegated supporters to the margins of football when it comes to TV schedules. To hear Clough talk so supportively in favour of those fans who'll be travelling up from London, with all the cost implications obvious to anyone who cares, shows we've got a manager who's prepared to speak out on an issue that affects fans everywhere. I wish other managers would combine with supporter associations and put on more of a unified front to show the FA that fans are at the top of the pile, not close to the bottom.

We need to find away of getting across to the fa that if it wasnt 4 fans there wud b no football but thats literally impossible for the game we all truely love

Quality to clough tho, he really is ticking all the boxes, lets hope we dont come crashing down to earth

Hi wizadry, the obvious solution is a boycott of this game, but who's going to take part in that?

You can understand the problems for fans, supporting a team was never a rational decision, you just do and that's an end to it. So moaning needs to be converted into something far more tangible, something that the FA and the TV companies will understand, but what you might ask? If not a boycott then how else do supporter's act as one voice to make an impact? The only thing the FA would understand is seeing an important televised game taking part in a ground that's barely full.....or have I missed another way that supporter's can make their voices heard?

Youre exactly right buddy,me and my mate have been on about this for ages boycoting but the problem is every single 1 of us would have to do it

Having the KO at 12 is a complete joke and I'm glad Clough has got the bollocks to come out and say so. Doesn't really cause much of a problem for us Blades (if you live in Sheffield anyway) but it's shite for the Charlton fans. Makes it even worse that there aren't any trains that can get them to the game on time.

The FA ought to tell BT Sports to fuck off if they don't want a sensible KO time.

Well all good ideas begin small, a bit like planting a seed and watching it grow.

The cynic in me says fans will never get behind this.....but as with all beginnings, I'd suggest supporters at united, with the backing of it's supporter's club, contact other official supporter's clubs. If the official supporter's clubs were nesh and failed to act on behalf of supporter's then it should be done unofficially via sites like this, of which there are many throughout the UK. Not sure how effective this would be, I tend to think that as long as club's aren't inconvenienced then it'll be tough bringing other fans onside, but I'd love to be proved wrong.

Well Clough clearly disaproves, so that's united removed from this equation, and as for the FA, they are at the behest of the TV companies.....so that leaves the TV companies, whether it's BT, Sky, or the terrestial channels.

Or the Fuzz?????

TV companies always seem to have more say than the Police. Remember a few seasons ago when the game against Wednesday was switched by Police to Sunday 11.30 am then Sky decided they wanted it and it became a Friday night KO.

4000 Addicks agree.

So they've won haven't they? No matter how much dicking around fans get, they still rock up. Carlton fans may have won the battle, but the war is long lost.

The Fuzz have got more influence than the Media?????

Didn't Newcastle and Sunderland tell Northumbria Police to "foxtrot oscar" and that they'd be setting their own kick off times?

A quick Google suggests yes: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...aunch-joint-attack-on-Northumbria-police.html

So in terms of who the clubs are going to listen to, I'd agree the media and their £££ are more influential than the Police, who can kick up a fuss but basically have to go along with what the Clubs decide (should the Clubs be bullish enough about it).

Indeed but there is a simple way of cutting off the supply to those who fund football. Don't take out a Sky subscription/cancel your existing one, don't pay for your BT subscription. But we don't do we, everyone moaning who has Sky is funding the problem.

That or buy shares and then force the issue at the AGM. Might need a bit of cash for it to work though

The only people that benefit from a 12 pm kick off are people like me, half way around the world in a daft time zone (mattbianco1)

Cloughie is spot on and my love for him just grows and grows like a Brayford beard.

I'm sure that the Police can only advise a club re kick off times and this advice would be based around the cost of Policing on a certain day or a certain kick off time.

Whatever happened to 'football trains'?
You've got thousands of 'clients' needing a service...guaranteed on a date fixed date!
Someone could clear up!
Still, a bit odd that no service at all Sunday morning...they can get a train to Sheffield in around 2hrs mid-week..time to re-nationalise the heavily subsidised rail service!

Let me know if every1else is going to cancel and i mean every1 and ill cancel mine:D

bloody sky starting this off, why on earth is it at 12pm what about mi lunch you FA twits ..... sucks for Charlton fans having to get up so early too they miss breaky and lunch :( poor sods.
The match "should" have been 3pm on Saturday like all weekend matches.

Wiz, talking to yourself is a long established condition for any diehard Blade.....just keep it indoors mate, that way you can vent your spleen 'til it's time for bed UTB
Bite my own nose off to spite ones face fuck that

But it's the fans driving it.
If more people weren't more likely to watch it at 12:00 and 17:30 the times wouldn't be moved. Cloughs right in what he says but it won't stop unless those watching at home decide they're not interested.

Nice for the hotels though. There's always winners and losers in all situations.

Expect loads of drunk cockneys in town satdee neet?
