If I'm the last person to have seen this then apologies, but if not then it's nice to know our manager has his priorities where they ought to be.
Clough was interviewed on Radio Sheffield and commented on the issues surrounding the kick off time for the game against Charlton. This is condensed but still captures the essence of what Nigel had to say - "We have sympathy for football supporters. You get a cup quarter final and it is the first time that Charlton have been there for eight years and the first time we have reached this stage for quite some time"
"It is a 12pm kick off on a Sunday and there is not a train out of London to get them here for the kick off"
"I find it staggering. This competition is supposed to be for the supporters. Charlton are confident of selling out their allocation but that shouldn't be the point. Fans shell out a fortune watching their clubs and we should be trying to help them out in every way that we can"
The FA and it's paymasters, the TV companies, have long relegated supporters to the margins of football when it comes to TV schedules. To hear Clough talk so supportively in favour of those fans who'll be travelling up from London, with all the cost implications obvious to anyone who cares, shows we've got a manager who's prepared to speak out on an issue that affects fans everywhere. I wish other managers would combine with supporter associations and put on more of a unified front to show the FA that fans are at the top of the pile, not close to the bottom.
