Anything other than promotion is failure. I'm pretty sure Barnsley spent less last season, not to mention Burton.
What difference does that make.it wasn't his fault we were in L1 in the first place. We were at the bottom of L1 when he came got us up the table and improved on that the following season. We have got worse since he left
We lost by one goal in the play off semi. Not exactly put to the sword. Yes he should have bought a centre half with the Brayford money but that doesn't disguise that overall he did a good job for usBut why the feck did he sign so many toadies and crocks, and no CB's?
When the chickens came home to roast at Swindon our fucked up team were put to the sword, to nobody else's surprise
Maybe that is a problem with our expectations. Are we saying that if a manager doesn't get us promotion they should be sacked ? This short term thinking leads to panic signings ( Brayford ?) and no team foundations. If Wilder is sacked of we don't go up it will all start again with a manager trying to sort another managers players. It can't go on or we will go down.
So if Wilder doesn't get us promoted should he be sacked ?Clough had a season and a half and was able to sign plenty of his players, with the budget he had he failed miserably.
Adkins had a season and signed very few players whilst moving on a lot of players to cut the wage bill. His signing were mixed but I think with 4 promotions on his cv he should have been given at least until Xmas in my opinion.
Wilder is slashing the budget and trying to build a team. It's a very difficult job at the moment.
So to some up success is all relative, give Wilder the budget Clough had and I'll judge him by the same standards.
We scored 5 fucking goals. We haven't even had that many shots on target yet this season. But why the feck did he sign so many toadies and crocks, and no CB's?

Sorry I missed that. I agree by the way. For once we need to give a manager a chance to buildDid you not read the part where I said he has a very difficult job? Give Wilder the same budget as Clough and no promotion is a failure, with what Wilder is currently working with I'd say a mid table finish showing signs of improvement for next season is enough to get at least another season.
Based on results, Clough should have been given more time, but he obviously misjudged his bosses mood which is often fatal when egos get involved.Clough had a season and a half and was able to sign plenty of his players, with the budget he had he failed miserably.

He's signed:
The best left back in the league
Coventry's best player
A winger from last season's team of the year
A hugely talented CB from the Championship
A striker with a proven scoring record at this level
Not my words.
Surely these additions alone should take us up?
Agree with all that ,except the best left back bit (I know that's what he said but not seen it yet), the rest should come good as they are facts. He's signed:

We're still in the shadow of Clunts poisonous legacy sadly.
He's Bryan Robson with a smaller drinks cabinet.
Yeah

Wow, TWO of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbainks teams up there? He's got a bright future at least.
Thanks for the data.
Was that the sound of the goalposts moving again?
No, it's the sight of a decent young manager leaving a good legacy. Really pleased for him.
How? That deadwood was under contract and their wages were stopping any further recruitment. Not many queuing up to take the likes of Coutts off our hands now...Based on results, Clough should have been given more time, but he obviously misjudged his bosses mood which is often fatal when egos get involved.
Adkins was just a bad fit, agree that he didn't get much room to change his squad but I think a tougher character would have blown more of the deadwood away.
Wilson should have got till the end of the season.
Didn't you say if Clough did well this season you'd give him the credit? Now he's doing well it's back to being Jimmy's team?
Ls we have enough of those on the pitch at the minute without adding one in the car park and at that rate there will be no room for a protest ffsfuck it Clough should have a statue in the car park.
Adkins' entire contribution can be summed up thus. For some unknown reason they're retrospectively becoming good managers for some. Just because our current manager is (currently) shit it doesn't mean our past managers were anything other than utterly shit.
Whilst I'm not a (current) fan of Wilder, he's working on about half the budget those two had.
It's those wankers who left the club in the mess it is.
Fair point, but I think a "Warnock type" would have made their life so uncomfortable, they'd have been on the phone to agents angling to get away. I had some sympathy for him but by the end he was almost daring McCabe to pull the trigger. How? That deadwood was under contract and their wages were stopping any further recruitment. Not many queuing up to take the likes of Coutts off our hands now...
Very insightful. We're still in the shadow of Clunts poisonous legacy sadly.
