It's a long way to go yet - at least another 5 games if the 1971 run of 21 games is the record

The 1971 run was either 10 or 11 games and lasted until early October, when we lost at Old Trafford and then lost the next three, as Darren will confirm when he's finished a bot of conveyancing.

Ah, just realised, you're adding the run at the end of the previous season......

Conyeancing? I am far more interesting than that...

Just for you the run was:

Aug 14 H Southampton W3-1 (Woodward pen, Salmons, Flynn)
Aug 17 H Leeds W3-0 (Colquhoun, Dearden, Flynn)
Aug 21 A Everton W1-0 (Woodward)
Aug 24 A Arsenal W1-0 (Scullion)
Aug 28 H WBA D0-0
Aug 31 H Huddersfield W3-1 (Dearden 2, Woodward pen)
Sept 4 A Forest W3-2 (Dearden, Scullion, Currie)
Sept 11 H Spurs D2-2 (Dearden, Scullion)
Sept 18 A Leicester W1-0 (Woodward)
Sept 25 H Chelsea W1-0 (Scullion)

Aug 17 H Leeds W3-0 (Colquhoun, Dearden, Flynn)

Sept 4 A Forest W3-2 (Dearden, Scullion, Currie)

Not in correct order. For the L**ds game, Flynn scored our 1st and Colquhoun our 3rd. TC scored our 2nd at Forest and Scullion put us 3-1 up about a minute later

Aug 17 H Leeds W3-0 (Colquhoun, Dearden, Flynn)
Aug 21 A Everton W1-0 (Woodward)
Aug 24 A Arsenal W1-0 (Scullion)

As these were there champions of the previous three seasons the equivalent today is beating Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City in a week without conceding a goal. Definitely the best days of my United supporting life

What's this all about?
Club has never made a record.
They didn't do cup final songs to enter the charts in 1925 so we have never been near one.

Was this just league matches? if so six before the end of august. Premier league clubs have only played 8 so far this season and its nearly november and there was only 2 more teams than now

and that Leeds game was my first visit toBDTBL

The John Denver cover version of the "Greasy Chip Butty Song" is currently number 38 in the UK Top 40.
He gets quite a lot of the words wrong though. Pity... ;)

It was. There was a League Cup game interspersed there:

Sept 7 H Fulham W3-0 (Woodward 2, Dearden)

I see Kenlilworth's point to a an extent, but the convention amongst us boring bastards interested in such things is that penalty shoot out "wins" or "defeats" count as draws.

It works the other way as well. We beat Shrewsbury on pens in the League cup in Sept 05. Had that counted as a win we would have had a club record 10 consecutive victories in all competitions. As it didn't, we don't.

Do extra time wins/defeats count as draws or wins/defeats ?

With regards to the losing of a match, or indeed not, in a penalty shootout, when I got the Sewertram (linky) from Wembley it certainly felt like we'd lost the match. Are you now telling me we didn't actually lose the match at all?

That's some proper fucking consolation, that is. Thanks.

Have we now equalled the club record of 22 games unbeaten ? (ie including the penalty shootout games)

We are 17 League games unbeaten now, if we remain unbeaten in November that would also equal the 1899/00 League record of 22 unbeaten.

One defeat in 27 League games as we stand is pretty impressive (1 defeat in 32 all competitions) but nothing to show for it - it's the Blades Way :(
