A fair point re Berge is this imo: given all we've had so far are tire kickers trying to sign him, would his valuation actually reduce with another window or two of exposure in a Blades shirt?

Obviously long term injury would make that likely. But given his level of performance from the back end of last season I feel his valuation will only take increase despite his contract winding down - providing that he stats fit. Of course we'll remain beneficiaries of his skills in the meantime.

I believe that if the board think that we have a good chance of promotion with Berge in our team they will do their utmost to keep him.

If we kept everyone but flogged Brewster for £7m it would have been an amazing transfer window. Love the loans we've brought in, just need to unload the expensive flop that is Brewster cos he ain't gonna come good and getting 40 to 50k off the wage bill would be good work.

My understanding is that at present the budget is fully allocated and whilst there is hardly any wiggle room , there is no actual need to sell.
That doesn't mean we wouldn't sell if the right bid came in. I'm sure there will be a chain of thought that considers speculating in order to achieve promotion, but if we don't sell then we have no money for January either, or maybe even no money for next Summer unless we get promoted.

I'm firmly of the camp that we should be planning for staying in this division as well as planning for promotion, I think it would be short termism to not sell if a bid comes in above our valuation, although I'd caveat that with making sure we had time in the window to make signings to fill the gap

Apparently WBA have interest in McB. Let it be true and let it come to fruition and we we sign a striker that scores goals.

Hecky has somehow got Norwood to improve quite dramatically + Fleck to a lesser extent ....
Maybe he's had a quiet word with both of them , who knows ?

He spoke yesterday about moving the ball quicker being a major factor in the destruction of Blackburn.

Historically , Norwood's slow build up play & Fleck's obvious lack of pace have not usually contributed to moving the ball quicker.

Maybe they can change ? But if they can't , Hecky now has the loanees to replace them.

I find our slow transition very frustrating and I associate it with Norwood , Fleck & "Wilderball" , in which we tend to ping the ball out to the wings + then fanny about without breaking through.

As has been shown recently , some quicker , more varied play , occasionally though the middle , can be very effective.

If the old guard can be persuaded to change their ways , fine.

But the old guards' habits should not dictate the team tactics to Hecky.

I’m going to give the benefit of the doubt to Hecky

Maybe the improvement in Norwood and Fleck is because for the first time in a couple of years they have genuine competition for their place?

Kinda win win

They improve or the get replaced by a couple of potential Fodens.

Keep this side and we’re ok

Think Fleck is being managed really well. Don't think he can do back to back 90 mins anymore.

But bring him on for 30 mins or start him for 60 and he'll be buzzing around like a mad Scotsman.

I wonder what the club value Ndiaye at - what number would make them think twice.
This is a worry.

Cos you can be quite sure several PL clubs will be “keeping tabs”.

Right now he is irreplaceable for us.

Which often means the first sensible offer north of £3m would do it.

£10m footballer minimum in todays market with the very real prospect of multiplying that x many in the future.

This lad is soon going to be worth a hell of a lot of money soon.

I think the club will hold firm on their 35 mill release. If he keeps playing the way he is there will be the appropriate offers in January. It will be clearer where we stand in the league regards autos at that point.

Didn't Hecky say that he was told we Don't have to sell, if that's the case we can't be that bad financially. Keep this squad together and we will go up champions

Problem is how he is perceived

To the buying club he’s a raw unproven talent, same as DCL & Che Adams were - In hindsight we were goosed

To us he’s our MGW or Kane who went out on loan to Norwich- a potential multi £10’s million player

This board, despite what some think, have been robust at selling assets- apart from Ramsdale what Crown Jewels have we sold?

They could have easily grabbed £10m for Berge but have resisted

Been top after 5 means we can suggest they can reach the prem with us

Could be worse, could be boro😂😂

£1 million and a sell on clause under the last ownership
He's young and totally unproven at Premier League level, like that should be our concern

£100 billion dollars under this ownership
I remember an interview in which the Prince told us of an amazing player that was coming through the ranks , before he'd got anywhere near the first team.
The Prince was talking about Ndiaye and he's been proved totally correct.
I very much doubt that the Prince will let Ndiaye go for any price , at this stage - I am sure he takes great pride in our acquisition & development of this lad and there is so much more to come from him that to sell him now would be plain stupid.
He is arguably less replaceable than Berge.

Of course I don't know if Ndiaye has a release clause , anyone know ?

I wouldn't have thought so

His first pro contract, he'd have just been happy to get it without inserting clauses that he has no right to insert

We should be making sure he's on a par with the other big earners though, if we haven't already done so.

At the end of the day the Prince as well as being a Business man is also a football man.

He's mad on fantasy football, even being mentioned in books on it.

He is acutely aware that after making a good start, selling the assets which have contributed to that is a bad move.

As has been stated we sold Ramsdale and that was after he threw his toys. In the end that worked out for both. We probably got the best fee possible, which looks well on the way to being maximised and in doing so we gave a chance to a more mature player who has established himself to have an almost cult following and to be fair, is far less erratic than Ramsdale was with us.

I think the Prince does the right thing and the only way someone leaves is due to contractual clauses. It seems the likes of Brugge, Liverpool and Milan sniffed a bargain at first but have misread the situation and us being a Championship club doesn't necessarily translate to us selling at whatever the best offer is.

In the Prince's eyes he'll know we have a good chance of going up. Fulham and Bournemouth replaced by less well resourced teams. The start me made only reinforces this.

We've had a difficult start.

Watford away with Dennis, Sarr & Pedro up front (approx. £75m of PL talent) and a makeshift defence trying to keep them out. Many people's tips for automatic promotion.

Millwall at home. A traditional bogey fixture which we never win. Always a tough top 10 team and many have tipped them to be in the play-off mix, once more. We played them off the park.

Middlesbrough away. Another tipped to be at least top six and possibly even higher. An emotional fixture for our lads and I thought we looked the better team.

Sunderland at home. Recruited intelligently and have plenty of momentum from their promotion season. I'm confident they will finish top half. But for one moment of madness, we were comfortable and should've been heading towards a 3/4 - 0 win.

Blackburn at home. Off to a flier, though I don't think it will last. Lost most of their best players in the Summer. However, they came to Bramall Lane top of the league and we completely dominated them. If their keeper had not had a blinder it would have been 5/6-0.

We're top of the league, after that run of fixtures. I still don't think we're out of third gear and our squad is riddled with injuries.
We have match winners and it's giving our other players freedom & confidence.

Wilder put it pretty well in saying that whilst other squads seem to be in a state of transition - we don't. We've carried the momentum through from last season and we actually look a better side.

Anel & Clark are top additions at the back.
Khadra & McAtee bring pace and guile at the top of the field. Two tremendous options to have.
Berge & Ndiaye have kicked on, they're leading from the front. We don't miss MGW. They are our ticket out of this division.
And Brewster & McBurnie have recovered well from their injuries. They look sharp and hungry.

Keep this squad together and there's a very, very strong chance of promotion. It has all the right feels.

I similarly wish that there wasn't still 10 days to go of this window because this is a massive opportunity.
I hope the Board take the calculated risk.

This team is starting to get the vibe of the team when Spackman was manager we sold our best players mid season back then and look what happened if we had have held on to Deane and Fjortoft I'm confident we would have been promoted and in a FA cup final for the first time in 60 years. Instead we missed out and spent a nearly a decade in the Championship, Steve Bruce, Adrian Heath and the Warnock who it took seven years to get us promoted. Sell now and we will be stuck in this division another 10 years.

Good post, summed up the situation well there.

We were talking about this on the Kop and obviously everyone wanted us to resist offers.
However if the offer is high then surely we'll sell Berger.

Someone mentioned that an option would be to sell some of our best talent now with an instant loan back for this season.
So we kind of cover both bases of financial security even if we fail to gain promotion and also ensuring we have a great team for this season
....however even if we're promoted we've then lost our best players.

This Dennis, Sarr and Pedro thing. Are they really that good? Mostly loiked shite against United a few weeks ago.
Usual over rated Championship shit I feel.
