Bit harsh, I expect us to double our points tally in the next 4 games

Exactly this. Then win all the games up to New Year then into early January with the opening round of the FA cup starting our tjourney to the Wembley final.

And before you accuse me of being deluded, just remember, you started it…..

Season starts now. Next four games utterly crucial, all against sides that we should be looking to pick up points against.

We could be on a very respectable 13 points by the time we play Liverpool in December.

In theory true but what do they say performances are an indicator of future results.

and the truth is our performances have been shocking, we always look a clear division or 2 below the opposition.

Based on our performances we're miles behind the likes of Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle, Man City etc
We struggle to even venture into their half, we struggle to string 3 passes together and have no composure on the ball just booting it clear.

Then watch how Luton, Burnley, Bournmouth and Wolves play against the like if Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle, Man City
Yes of course they lose and are well below that level but they aren't miles behind those teams like us.
Our rivals always manager to have attacks regardless of the oppostion and have a few shots giving them a game.

For example at the weekend I watched the Wolves versus Newcastle game.
Wolves looked really good on the ball, based on what I've seen of them, they are likely to outclass us on Saturday.
Hope I'm wrong and of course I'll be supporting Hecky and the boys on Saturday but I fear that we'll put most of the players in defence.
Wolves will totally control the game but struggle to break through our packed defence, we'll hardly venture in to the Wolves half and our plan will be to try and score from a Jack Robinson throw-in , we might knick it 1-0 but I wouldn't be happy playing like a league 2 side, it would be papering over the cracks, What's wrong with our midfield having some possession passing the ball to feet, pushing some players forward and trying to create chances.

A bit of faith, I mean the comments after we got beaten, battered, whatever you want to call it after Arsenal when nobody would've been surprised by that result before the season started, so why now does it make it 'the end of days?'
We're used to this shit so just settle down and get behind the team.

I've been going since 1975, went to every home match when we were in the 4th division and I've never seen United so out of their depth compared to the opposition. We look as though we shouldn't be on the same pitch, most games our tactics are damage limitation and quite often the opposite don't need to try.

The ray of hope is the Man Utd 1st half, play like that and carry it forward into the 2nd half and we have a chance.
To be honest play like that....and even if we lose...I'll be happy....I'm reasonable and accept we are likely to struggle and be relegated
but I never expected us to be this bad...even Luton look so much better than us....it's almost like watching San Marino play international football.

I get the clean slate concept but surely a poor result vs wolves (no points) would surely be final nail in coffin of PH.

Being just about the most optimistic Blade on the forum thought you might like to see my last 2 predictions on ‘season starts’

Our first 5 games.
I’d be happy with 3 points as long as those 3 points came from the utter demolition of the scabby bastards.

In reality 5, 7 doable and would be a dream start.
By the end of November.
Before the start of the season I predicted 7 points from August and we have 1, that of course was with Ndiaye and Berge,

I’m now thinking the squad is strong enough to get the required points from here on to remain on survival form but maybe not pull back the lost points from August (hope I’m wrong)

I can see us on 12 by the end of November and also can see us not losing in November.

December is important with 6 pointers against Luton and Burnley if we can do that and get a point from Chelsea and Brentford, that’s staying up form.

Just keep thinking 20 points by the new year is optimistic but realistic, and not the cloud cuckoo land that is was just 3 weeks ago.

UTB 🏹 ⚽ 🥅 .
Our points by Christmas.
15 points, Should that be our target by Boxing Day?

I’m just wondering if the Prince has set a points total in his mind for Christmas and if we reach it he will invest in the JTW to keep us up and we don’t he will see us as relegated and save funds to replace Archer next season with strikers strong enough to get us promoted straight back to the Prem.

I think we should be targeting.

7/10 Fulham

4/11 Wolves

25/11 Bournemouth

2/12 Burnley

26/12 Luton

As 3 pointers, we won’t win them all but we will pick up unexpected points from other matches, Wolves v City as an example.

As always, I support the crest on the front of the shirt not the name on the back, whoever owns us, whoever manages us, whoever plays for us ⚔️🔴⚪⚫⚪🔴⚔️ UTB

I was wrong by about a squillion miles but hey-ho, lets start the season again and this time be more realistic.

Until whatever stinks in our club is flushed the very best we can hope for is 12 points and that’s a push.

Now let’s wait until we scrape a lucky point from Luton on Boxing Day and only lose 5-0 to Citeh on the 30th, then we can start out season again by pretending we can get something from West Ham.

The JLT tactic actually helps our opponents. They win the ball comfortably and then break at speed, JLT is out of position and our snail paced midfielders cannot get back. I reckon opposition managers are targeting this.

Wait, you're telling me that possession is more important than gerritinbox? Who knew!

I agree that one win would make such a difference but a loss to Wolves wouldn’t be far from an untenable position for PH
