Towards the end of the game I was more interested in us retaining our 'clean sheet record' than scoring a 3rd goal.
Full respect to that defence,
on radio Sheffield just before kick off they mentioned something about championship records if we went a couple of more games but he never said a figure. Did anyone listen on and hear anything or know what is the league record for consecutive clean sheets?
It’s not really a readily available stat either, although you seem to have done well to find them stats. I can’t even find how many clean sheets Michael Cooper had for Plymouth never mind stats of in a row.I can't find any team who have had more than 7 consecutive clean sheets in the Championship (since 2004).
Consecutive clean sheet records appear to be anomalous because they're not usually held by teams that concede the fewest goals or keep the most clean sheets.
For example, QPR in 2010-11 hold the record for the most clean sheets in a season with 25 but they never had more than 5 in a row.
Watford in 2020-21 hold the record for fewest goals conceded in a season with 30 but they never had more than 3 consecutive clean sheets.
Wigan had 7 consecutive clean sheets in 2019-20 and got relegated*.
*this was due to a points deduction but they still would have finished in the bottom half without it
According to Transfermarkt he got 55 in 161 appearances, although it includes games where he didn't play the full 90 minutes. It’s not really a readily available stat either, although you seem to have done well to find them stats. The clean sheet record is 8 which was set by Reading the year we went up under Warnock I believe, when they won the league.on radio Sheffield just before kick off they mentioned something about championship records if we went a couple of more games but he never said a figure. Van der Sar broke Reading's Steve Death's record of 1,074 minutes in 1979 without conceding a goal in English league football
Might be difficult considering the next 2 games.
The best ever championship teamThe clean sheet record is 8 which was set by Reading the year we went up under Warnock I believe, when they won the league.
