Clean sheet

Very much needed, as much as the win.
We've been leaking far too many lately but the defence coped very well against admittedly a very weak Sunderland side.

No shots on target and no corners always helps! Generally, that is credit to Lunny and Bash.

We needed the clean sheet almost as much as the win for our confidence. Perfect result in every way.

Thing is, a lot of our defending is from the front. We press high up, harass the opposition, and keep possession while attacking ourselves. Without Fleck, Coutts, and even Duffy missing a game, it's no wonder we've been under far more pressure at the back.

I did wonder if that's why we played into the corner late on, even though the game was safe. A Sunderland goal wouldn't have changed the outcome but a clean sheet was important.

As someone else pointed out, it could also have been to save energy with the fixture pile up.
