After another clean sheet today,we have now gone 5 league games without conceding and the record is 7 set between 20/3/71 and 17/4/71 and also 3 league away clean sheets, the record is 4 set between 23/11/02 and 26/12/02.

On my calculations clean sheets against Posh and Carlisle at home and then away at Preston we will have equaled both these records.
Although we have Crawley away then Wolves at home to beat those records!

Well slap my ass and call me Judy, things are going well in defence for us atm

After another clean sheet v Posh we can now equal the record against Carlisle next tuesday.

This must be a record for clean sheets in consecutive wins. The 7 consecutive clean sheets in 70-71 included 3 0-0 draws.
Our keeper was John Hope who was great for is in the year 1971 (apart from the League Cup defeat at West Ham) but a few in here prefer to remember him in 1972 than what he did for us in 1971

Mark Howard, unsung hero? We've had some great goalkeepers over the years at Bramall Lane... Simon Tracey, Alan Kelly, Mel Rees, Paddy Kenny... all gone down in United folklore. As much of it is based on appearances, I'm not sure Howard will make it because I'm pretty sure we'll be looking at fine tuning George Long for the long-term but I can't fault Howard - even his VERY long kicks, although frustrating against Fulham, have been useful in this run. And he's a decent chap to boot. My cousin was chatting to him for over an hour on Sunday night and says he was great fun.
