Just watched this. There's another from the season after too. Seems decent and we know what he'll bring to us. Hopefully a bit more pace too.

Night folks. Slightly disappointed like we all are that Cole didn't come but pleased we have signed someone else who is proven at this level as well.

2 of the 100m medalists in the world champs this year were over 30. He's probably not as quick as he was at 28, but he's probably quicker than the rest of the strikers we currently have.

It's an okay signing providing his legs don't go off the Cliff like Kitson's did.

But I still shudder to think where the goals will come from if Sharp gets injured. Donaldson has been pretty hit and Miss in the scoring charts and age is creeeping up on him.

some quotes from Birmingham fans -

"Poor mans Lukaku. Always tried his best... but just not good enough"

"Sadly his lack of pace and injuries have halted him getting in the team on a regular basis and now behind Che"

I am not sure he's going to be first choice, but he;s going to be great for the last 15 minutes. WIlder always said he wanted an option so I don't envisage him starting this guy. The other good thing is that I think this will give us more scope to give Brooks more gametime.

He is quick. Wasn't he the guy from Brentford who ripped us a new one.

Just looked on a Birmingham City forum.

They're saying he was excellent in his first season but has now lost his pace and isn't good enough for them anymore.
They seem to like him though as he seems to have a good attitude and works hard.

For me, he's a good squad player.

Reminds me a little of the Hanson signing, bought someone that was needed at the time, a stop gap signing.
At least it boosts our numbers and offers more options.

PRECISELY!

If martyn waghorn can be taught how to hit the back of the net in this league then Donaldson should be fine. Birmingham play crap footballl, we make a lot of chances and get in good positions. i think with his experience he shouod have the positional sense to get on the end of some of our attacking moves.

I will reserve judgement until he plays, im not jumping for joy nor am i cryng over it.

Having very limited options up front and despite trying to sign better strikers we weren't able to up until 10:59 when we signed this guy

..but we knew our situation up front very, very early on, we signed Ched who was obviously crocked/struggling and the rest were here from L1 who were basically bits parts supporting Billy.

Do you seriously think this was all agreed between 10-11pm?

I actually think this was one of two forwards that we were trying to sign. A younger with potential and one with experience.

Being fair to the guy he's scored 1 in 3 In This division in a pretty poor Birmingham side since turning 30.

It's not a terrible signing imo. Just not the marquee one we were after.
