Ooh you clever boy.

What are gonna do next? Eat some crayons?

You're either just a liar or a fantasist?

Anyone who truly believes Billy has more respect amongst Leeds fans is paranoid delusional at best.

Someone with a chip on both shoulders and such bitterness at the world really should be from Barnsley not Sheff.

I was slightly surprised he started yesterday, simply on the basis that he played the full game Tuesday – part of him being regularly subbed in my opinion is Wilder keeping him fresh enough to start the next game each time, and circumstances Tuesday meant that plan was abandoned. I can see the logic in starting Brooks in his place at Millwall, but it would be just like Sharp to head there and grab 2.

I thought Wilder hinted (in his post-match RS interview) that he was very close to playing Brooks ahead of Sharp but felt Billy deserved another opportunity given what he's done so far this season.

I think Brooks may start at Millwall.

Agreed, Bert also thinks he will start the next game instead of Billy.

Wow, whole sentences now.

You're really coming along. Proud of ya Champ.

1) That the fact that Billy Sharp is more appreciated by Leeds fans for his 6 goals than by us for his 59 (in this spell alone) probably makes them better supporters than us in the true definition of the word.

Very small sample but the Leeds fans I know liked Sharp but didn't rate him. They thought he was hard-working and honest but not quick enough for Championship football. I think Sharp can be excellent in set ups that really suit him (Donny under O'Driscoll, us under Wilder etc) but in a team that plays a straight-forward, old fashioned 4-4-2, he doesn't have the physical attributes or outstanding skill to hit the same heights.

The idea that he isn't liked because no-one wants to see a Sheffielder do well is amongst the most ridiculous I've ever seen on here.

Good job he's scored all those goals to make up for it then really.

I'm old enough to remember all the stick that lazy fucker kieth Edwards used to get, quite funny looking back.
Same knives out for sharp now as were having a go at Leon not so long ago.Fickle.

I'm old enough to remember Keith Edwards in both spells at the Lane, and I can't remember him getting that much stick from supporters, he seemed to be idolised by most. In fact I recall a supporter revolt when Porterfield dropped Edwards for Peter Withe at the start of one season.

The big difference between Edwards and Sharp is that the former had a turn of pace that could stretch a defence, other than a knack to score goals (and as the smaller striker I'd take that as a given) for me Billy doesn't bring that much more to the table, leadership possibly. Whether he starts or comes off the bench he's still a handy striker to have around.

Yeah I'd probably describe 59 goals since 2015 as handy as well.

20 goals between Clarke and Sharp only Donaldson has more than 1 goal (2), what would the grunters with their multi million pound strikers or any other teams in the league give for that?

Yes I got that sense too. I don’t think this signals a permanent switch, but could see Brooks in for Saturday, though I didn’t think he played much better yesterday if I’m honest.

Difficult to judge as there weren't any internet forums when Edwards was playing. The stick players got was pretty much all from the terraces, and you are right when you say he used to get a fair bit of that. Memory does play tricks over time, but I think he got a lot more stick than Sharp gets now, much of which is all in the mind of the poster complaining about it.

Neil Warnock (despite my personal dislike of the man) was absolutely right when he said he would never be fully accepted here because he has from Sheffield. And he never really was. Up until 2005 I was defending him to the hilt against those slagging him off, and they would never be able to properly explain why they were doing so.

Quoting Warnock is a bad example Tyler Durden.

Neil "It's all about me" Warnock, only mentions Billy in that regard to remind people that we didn't love Neil himself enough. Nothing to do with him talking bollocks and constant gobbing off to anyone holding a microphone. It was all down to him coming from Sheffield. We really are a bad lot and should have appreciated NW far more.

Billy is a different kettle of fish and I guess in all seriousness, one of the problems he has, is the 'unseen' work he does. He always at it with defenders using his body and a selection of the dark arts, to drag them all over the place. This creates space for others even if Billy doesn't end up getting a touch. Fans prefer 'flair players' so it is easy to admire Brooks for his runs and trickery, but much harder to appreciate what Billy does.

If you like players who run with the ball and have lots of shots then generally Billy will disappoint. If you can appreciate the work he puts in for the team and the value of 20+ goals per season, then you love him. The game is all about scoriing goals so a 'fox in the box' knocking them in on the shit line, counts the same as Messi running 50 yards.

I love Billy for what he does for the team. The fact he is from Sheffield and a Blade too is a bonus, but mainly he is a very useful hard working player.

I'll try my UN peacemaker role again, as this is similar to the arguments over the goalkeepers recently. Let's enjoy the fact that the choice is between good players in a successful team - I know there's always room for improvement, but our 2 main strikers have scored enough goals between them to be celebrated, as is the fact that possible alternatives in the squad are pushing them. All goalscorers have lean spells. It was good that Brooks made the goal for Leon on Saturday, but remember that Billy made the last goal against Fulham by putting it on a plate for Leon to head in. The squad has goals in it - the stats don't lie. Enjoy.
