Can I just state this so that people will stop asking the question;

WE CANNOT RECALL BILLY SHARP FROM HIS LOAN

There is no recall option in his loan agreement and this has been made publicly clear on a few occasions. I don't know why, I think its stupid that there isn't but that's the way it is. The only way his loan could have terminated is if United sold him in the transfer window.

I don't intend to be rude or patronising and I know some people aren't as well aware as others but when you're annoyed about something (i.e. some lunatic not negotiating a recall facility in Billy's contract), it starts to grate on you when people keep posting on the forum and phoning football heaven saying "why don't we recall Billy Sharp?"

:confused:

No doubt you are right Lou but when McCabe states in the accounts that Walker has returned on a season long loan, it is hard to believe anything that is said these days.

5) Standard Loans: a Standard Loan (long term loan) must be the time between two Registration Periods, and can be for half a Season or a full Season. Any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the second (January) Transfer Window. However, a Standard Loan of a goalkeeper may be subject to a recall clause exercisable at any time. Any recall may only be implemented in extenuating circumstances and with the consent of the Executive, such extenuating circumstances to be determined in the Executive's absolute discretion. A goalkeeper shall not be permitted to resume any Standard Loan following the exercise of a recall.

More fool the people who drew up the contract, because when he went on loan we didn't have a big squad.

Blackwell never wanted Billy to darken his door again. End of.

Blackwells way of saying "I rule Bramall Lane, not you!"

But also sensible to have the kid out on loan scoring goals so his value was maintained for a summer sale if he was not part of the managers plans?

I take your point Grumps, BUT....

the lack of a recall clause is plain stupidity!

Not if the player is not in the managers planning. If there had been an offer in Jan he would have gone.

Presumably because the manager won't play him, or at least use him to his strengths. Whilst Billy might want to play for the Blades, he might not be so keen to play for Blackwell.

'because the manager won't play him'

Then why have a re-call clause.

Not daft just the way things are.

Fair enough to sell him if he's not in our plans, however, it's absolutely senseless to sell any of our players to competing championship clubs. Although I always regret the sale of our players to Premier League sides, it's often out of our control. The fact he's scored goals for Doncaster Rovers who most of us would never see as our competitors this season, really makes you question the decision to release him on loan in the 1st place.

Not saying he's our saviour but it still makes me effing angry he's doing so well for a neighbouring club yet our manager couldn't get the best out of the lad!
