A lot of people are complaining of the apparent contradiction between Weir's talk of loans last night and Paul Walker's ill-timed tweet with regards to the speculation linking Conor Coady to the club.
It's partly my fault, as you can only convey a gist when you've got 140 characters to play with - but roughly what Weir said is:
That hopefully, we would have a full squad of our own players and that is his priority. He wants a tight squad where all players are close to the first team so that they all have something to strive for. So ideally (a word he used a lot) we would not be using the loan market.
However, his previous experience was with coaching U21s and he knows the market and it would be remiss of him not to speak to people and utilise his contacts.
But the best case scenario is that we rely on our own players. Any loans have to be the right fit for a specific need. But ideally, we won't need to loan.
