Seems a bizarre signing if true! Very much a winger.

Were we making an enquiry on where to forward some of his old belongings suddenly found at the Academy?

Not that bizarre considering that he has been getting a lot of attention from clubs higher up the pyramid this season. He has come on very well and maybe a few clubs feel he is worth a cheap(ish) gamble.
He certainly has a bit of pace and trickery.

Got to be a wind up.....

He’s 24 fits in younger players but he’s a winger. If CWAK make a swan out of this duckling then I’ll quack quack, all credit cause on paper we should stay clear.

The step up from League 2 to the Prem is enormous, plus we haven’t started a game with wingers since those initial games in the 16/17 season before Wilder switched the system. So yes, bizarre.

This whole "no wingers" thing ... we do get linked with "wingers" occasionally, like Joe Lolley. Marvin Johnson was/is arguably a winger too. CWAK just probably envisage them working in our system in a different role, likely either as a wing back or a central attacking midfielder. And then if we do want to change things up for certain games, they can play as a winger.

It's too simplistic to say "we don't do wingers" as a way of ruling out certain players. CWAK certainly don't.

There will be a gap in the squad for superfluous winger with Johnson returning to M'boro and Thomas likely to move on so don't rule this out :-)

I accept that. Indeed we signed Duffy, a winger, who has since switched roles obviously. I’d be very surprised though – feels Nathan Thomas esque as a signing.

Plays LWB, LW or ST. Rapid. Potential to improve. Had a great season. Think this has got legs.

Mansfield: "The manager says it would have to be ‘a big fee’ to prize winger CJ Hamilton away from One Call Stadium, after enquiries for the former Sheffield United man."

The BBC Nottingham must have misunderstood that.

Can play as a forward. Given our dearth of attackers at the minute, a gamble like this does seem to be a possible option as a 5th choice striker, development type of signing.

Wasn't he said to be the quickest player in at least L2 and possibly the entire Football League?

He has done well there. His athleticism, versatility and late development give him a chance of stepping up.

Think so yeah
I think this possibly is a misreport as said above, but I can see us making a signing like this. It worked for Huddersfield with Karlan Grant.,

I know nothing about the player beyond what I can glean from reading online, but this strikes me as competition for wing back. Plenty of players in the past ten years have converted from winger to wing-back and been far better for it.

Yep, these kind of success stories do occasionally happen.

A good comparison is Lewis Grabban. He had his first 'big' season at Rotherham in L2 at a similar age. Similar player types too.

Never in a month of Sundays. Got to be a misquote.

If not, sign David Mirfin too as he's released from them. A Blade and mates with Squinny, what's not to love.

Which fans?

As far as I can tell, people are commenting on a report from the BBC - not seen anyone on thread advocating the signing.

#10, #13. #15, #21.

Plenty prepared to contemplate signing a Division Four nonentity, even when the supposed interest is entirely false. Embarrassing Bladey Bladeness at its daftest.

If you consider relegation a success.

Clutching at straws with a few of those, though I'll give you #21.

Either way, hardly a glowing recommendation from anyone though - "embarrassing bladey bladeness at it's daftest" is probabaly an exaggeration...

I only became aware of it because Giddings retweeted it. It would appear he’s reversed that. Cheers Andy.
