We now have a promotion standard defence

Now let's do the same to our attack

And hope for reasonable luck with injuries

Then we'll get promoted

I've no idea how good Ciaran Clark is, but the pedigree is there. So if he comes in and is a solid signing then I'd probably agree with you.
Anel looks the part and we have decent cover.

I still worry that we've lost one of the league's best players from last season in Morgan Gibbs-White and haven't (and probably can't) replace him. Just not sure how we plug that hole on our budget.

Still light at the top of the field too.
We can't rely on Sharp again with his age / fitness worries and after him, who else?

I think we plug the MGW hole with a good attacking mid AND a good CF

Khadra and Davis obviously my choices, but I'd accept just one of them

Maybe Armstrong will be available soon too

Aim for this calibre and keep Berge then we're there IMO

Financially, I don't think we'll be able to do the above.

But we'll see.

Keep Berge and we'll be around the top 6. With a fairly solid backline and Berge / Ndiaye creating you'd expect us to win more than we'll lose.

Add some genuine quality at the top of the park and we'd be giving ourselves a proper chance.

I don't necessarily expect that to be financially realistic but honestly, if ever there's a time to push it a bit........

We're on the verge of being very strong and none of our rivals look outstanding to me. Norwich, Watford and WBA I'm thinking of, all good but beatable I think and not as well placed to start the season well

If we do all that I agree we might have a good chance of autos but I'm interested to know what other people think about last seasons Championship clubs that have strengthened and also the three that have come down from the PL, particularly Norwich and Watford who have been yo-yoing for a while now. How likely are they to do it yet again this season? Then there's usually a surprise package or two.

So if we do manage to sign a quality attacker or two how do people think we'll fare against all of the above?

finds the form of 6 years ago.
There in lies the problem for me, what he did in this division 6 seasons ago has absolutely no bearing on what we need and how good the player is now. A player with vast premier league experience is not what we need either.

It is an uninspiring, stop gap signing and still doesn't resolve our left sided centre half problem which we've had for the last 2 seasons, and unless Lowe stays and is a vast improvement on what we had at LWB last season, then the left side of our defence is looking suspect and an area teams will target. Robinson had a decent finish to last season, but asking him to replicate that form across a whole season is a big ask, not to mention he is a rash player who is always at risk of picking up suspensions as well as being prone to many errors. That hasn't been the case with us - it was the same for him at Forest, QPR & Huddersfield and a good run of form at the end of last season isn't going to have changed that.

Doing Robinson a disservice here.. good run of form to end the season? He’s been our best CB ever since Hecky came in, he was playing really well for 6-7 months of the season…

All this moaning, have you tried being positive for once? Clark and Lowe at LCB and LWB is a significant upgrade on anything we’ve fielded in the last 2 seasons..

If we get a couple more creative players I see no reason why we can't aim to be tbe top dogs in the league this season. Obviously nothings a given and there are too many variables, but if we get a couple more astute signings in, in addition to what we had already with Berge, Sharp Egan, Ndiaye etc and throw in Lowe and the lad from Belgium, and who really would soap that squad with anyone else's on the Championship? I know I wouldnt. Get a couple of decent creative players in (Khedra for one) and I would be quietly confident that we would be a serious outfit next season. We still lack creativity though as it stands but I'm sure PH and Co already know this.

It’s no secret but I’d bloody love James McAtee as CAM. I just think the lad is destined for huge things

Agree with this.

We know Robinson (a bit like Egan) is prone to occasional bad mistakes bordering on blunders
but he also showed some brilliant form in the 2nd half of the season, pulling off some brilliant last gasp tackles and even scoring some goals.

Equally important was his attitude and was quite inspirational in our team.
Last season he won me over and showed signs he could do a minor replication of Bashams career...basically starts a bit crap, written off as not good enough by the fans.......then overcoming adversity winning over the fans with fantastic character and spirit and even showing some quality.

Agree totally

Good defensive cover

Muddy and attack need some additions
not keen on the new shorts
you’ll get used to em

Me n your dad had a pair of short short denim shorts back in the day - looked great with our brown beer bellies hanging over

On the face of it, seems like a really good addition to the defence having played most of his career in the premier league.

Just needs to cut out saying ‘like I said’ every 20 seconds in his interviews. Particularly when he hasn’t said the thing which he is referring to when saying ‘like I said’.

A bit like the footballing equivalent of that really annoying fucker that rings Praise or Grumble and says ‘it’s like’ at the start of every sentence.

At the end of the day, like I said, it’s a game of two halves. Know what I mean.

Fleck, Norrington Davies and Clark
Fucking wank
