He started last season for Newcastle. He'll be starting this season for us. You don't go out on loan, at his age, to warm a bench.

He's a decent upgrade on Robinson, imo.

Robinson and Egan both have a mistake in them every game, this lad might help steady the ship a little.. We will still make mistakes and be punished for them, especially with the better teams.

As for his age, you need experience, its a known fact, and most times we've gone up in the past we've had a great mix of youth and experienced pro's to get over the line.

It'll be outgoings though next so buckle up buckaroos......

Now a couple of players further up the pitch (quality rather than quantity needed) and we are looking a very strong outfit for next season. Certainly a lot stronger than this time last year where we were all over the place and had just had our arses handed to us most weekends in the PL.

I have no issues with Newcastle fans comments, he probably is out of his depth with them now & they’ve moved into a better market.

J. Robinson struggled badly in the premiership but was fairly decent last season. I expect Clark to have a similar impact & probably be our first choice LCB

As with other posters, a seasoned defender who knows his job, he doesn't over-complicate too, so a no-nonsense type who will serve us well. Clean sheets will be crucial, and in spite of some of the reservations about Robinson, has everyone forgotten how Jack came on in leaps and bounds last season? With the addition of Clark we now decent competition in such an important role. Well done Hecky, you recognised what Clark is capable of and brought in a decent professional who should do a great job for this club.

Mixed views on this signing. We've gone for experience over youth in terms of not bringing in young Branthwaite. No issue with that but at just over 6 foot it doesn't solve our achilles heel in the air at the back. Goals conceded late on due to a lack of heading ability cost us promotion last season IMO. If Bergen Blade is right that heading is not Anels strength then we haven't solved last seasons problem. Clarks an upgrade on Davies but like Robinson has a mistake in him. Lets hope the pace of the Championship suits him better than the EPL.

Credit to the management team we have brought in a left footed centre back and will not resort to shoe ins like RND or moving Anel across unless in an emergency. It provides balance and by all accounts Clark is good with the ball at his feet. I just hope he gets an injury free settled run and finds the form of 6 years ago.

Robinson was very good and one of our best performers for the last half of last season. He certainly won me and many of the doubters round.

In my eyes, 'brings premier league experience' is generally code for someone who is a bit clapped out. However, let's wish for the best and hope that they can keep lopata in the tent too, as prima facie it goes against the 'develop our own players' shtick. If Clark plays to capacity and makes the shirt his own it will have been worth it, one would think.

b) most of the time, if they've not cut back onto their better foot anyway, the following pass is trivial enough it can be made with either foot

It’s not passing that would concern me, most players can swing a leg and make a basic pass. Tackling with the wrong leg in and around the area causes big problems if you don’t get it right. Which is more likely with your less natural foot.
Of course it’s possible and players that have played on the left side all their career are fine, but we don’t have those.
This is a good solid signing and should be the final part of our defensive rebuild for this season.

Totally agreed there. The club (Newcastle) due to money and ambitions have outgrown him. But for our current situation I believe this to be a fantastic signing. Alot of experience at this level and higher up which he can share. Talks well in interview about signing for the club which always looks well
