It's a huge decision.
Can Wilder get on board with the new systems and methods they are talking about? If so and he does it properly and with belief, they might want to keep him. That takes some time.
If he doesn't they might want to replace him. But only if a better option exists, is available, and wants it. That takes time.

I know we live in a world of zero patience now. Uber eats, Amazon delivery and instant Google answers to anything. Unfortunately most real life doesn't work like that.
Let them do the job properly. We'll find out , when they know.

The regular season finished 6 weeks ago. Not much will have changed between then and the fateful playoffs. Even prior to that, what changed?

A new contract was also given to Wilder and announced 28th Jan, 4 days after Selles hull had beaten us convincingly. I appreciate the short term nature of football manager contracts but again, what has changed?

As much as the right decision has to be made, you also expect a level of commitment and stability within the club as a fan.

The owners, whether they make the right or wrong decision here have handled the last 6 months poorly in terms of the manager.

Agreed, our record against those around us was horrific for a team that needed to finish in the top 2 and I believe that's what actually cost us rather than just that 3 game blip. People say how amazing Leeds and Burnley were to get the points totals they got but its partly because we rolled over when we played them.

Wasn't Wilder out of contract this summer?

They have him a new deal based on what had occurred prior to them taking over, as as that point they believe he was the right man for them. After they took over they saw different things for themselves which raised concerns and doubts.

I very much doubt Wilder will get all of his contract paid up as compensation as there will have been a clause in it agreeing severance in the liklihood of a termination.

What if Wilder was out of contract this summer then what? Our fans would be criticising the owners. What if they offered a new deal this summer and he turned it down?

We honestly weren’t very good for much of last year. Handful of good performances but a lot of the success was down to having a better squad than most.

This may define the new ownerships tenure. There’s at least a 50% chance the new guy is a fraud like Slav was and we waste the last parachute payment season. Let’s revisit in 6 months as they may have some explains to do

Wilder got afforded a lot more than most managers get at some clubs. Already this summer has had a classic Wilder vibe to it, Yorkshire tour pre-season against some of the usual clubs. Linked with transfer targets Wilder has struggled to land in the past year.

That could happen and patience will be key if we don't go up this season. We will then have to see how committed the owners are to funding the business or we will have to be very smart in our dealings.

Is it not easier though progress a business with an extra £200 million plus guaranteed revenue over the next three years ?

Yeah, but that would’ve been clear by the Blackburn game. That thought of replacing him would’ve been there if we’d won the play off gamble.

They could well have backed him in the summer and replaced by October when (not if) we had a bad start to the season

So as I said, this is more about the owners and their statement of intent, rather than the manager. Yes I think we know the latter part of the season wasn’t great, but something has changed with the owners to not only want to replace a successful manager, with bags of experience at the top end of this division and stability, with a very different style.

It’s not about keeping wilder btw, I accept that he’s been pretty much gone for weeks, but I think we need a little more guidance on the plan to give the owners our buy in

Maybe things have changed between then and now.
Lots of discussions about lots have things will have occurred between CW and COH about what and how we do next season. Has that forced the issue and now we are here??

New owners made naive decisions when they came in. Contract extension for Wilder, tied their own hands for fear of losing him. Funding the likes of Cannon. Hopefully layved calmed down and getting it right this season. Or else!

The new contract was a big mistake, Wilder should have been made to finish the job before getting a new one.

If we'd have beaten Leeds once, Burnley once, and Blackburn on the last day (which we would have done if there was owt on it) then would have won the league.

Trouble is that we never got close to beating Leeds or Burnley.

Wilder was done for me when I was sitting in the Grove at Holbeck and I saw the team for the game at ER.

I'm usually a pretty well balanced character but I was livid when I left the ground that night as we hadn't even tried to win the game and I knew as soon as I saw the team that we wouldn't.
