Absolutely agree but........If there is a jinx that goes with manager of the month, this must mean we're well and truly fooked. Something like points deducted for not thanking Cov fans for their antics but the amount not decided until the end of the season when it will be just enough to move us from Champions to 7th. Thank you football gods :eek:;).
 
Saw on the Northampton Town View from that he has amassed 102 points in 2016 55 with Northampton T and 47 with United. If thats correct then its a hell of a Year for him!

Football is funny - Pardew, 10 year contract at Newcastle - shipped out to Palace (probably a Boardroom done deal) and now - unemployed after getting to a cup final.

Gets Northampton promoted with all thr financial problems they had, then takes over at the lane with the expectations so high. Such a change round of personel and after 4 games already people calling for his head and now we are 2nd. 102 points from 46 games. With one club would have been fantastic, but with two almost miraculous. Congratulations to Chris and Alan. Great partnership.
 
Some thick feckers replying to that tweet seem to have no idea what he achieved at Northampton.

So was Kyle Walker! The good thing with Wilder is he seems a decent bloke and given it's his club he could well see out his contract regardless of attention from elsewhere.

I for one would not begrudge him a move to a PL side if he gets us promoted and we stay up next season. However he seems to have a head on his shoulders and a 5 year stint at BL with relative success (top end of championship, maybe even a play off outing in the mix) followed by a move to a mid table PL team is better on his CV than a move to an Everton/Palace/Watford or other such teams. The expectation would be high and he'd be back in the Champ or L1 if he had a shitty first year albeit with a few more quid in his pocket.

So far he's got a few promotions to his name plus some club stability and wheeling and dealing in his repertoire, if he does that again with us he's laughing.

Totally disagree.

Why would a PL or an ambitious Championship club be interested in anyone who has plied his trade during his management career almost exclusively in league 2 and the non league.

His only league honour on his cv is winning league 2.

There are numerous managers with much better cv's. Agree what he's done recently will mean he'll be in big demand in leagues 1 or 2.

We are lucky in that they'll be no interest from the PL or any big Championship club due to him having no relevant experience, so we could have Wilder in charge leading us all the way to the PL.

Premier League, no. Championship? He should have been in contention for both Birmingham and Wolves jobs.

If we get up to the Championship, fending off all but a few Championship clubs shouldn't be an issue.

However if we continue to progress at Championship level, I think he'll then be on the radar of half the clubs in the Premiership and we might just see how committed our owners are to keep him. Either way it'd mean that we've been reasonably successful if it comes to pass, so let's hope it's a quandary they have to address.
 
I think he'll go all the way...with us, hopefully. The English Pocettino. Cheers Chris. Let's not forget the Knillster.

Agree with some of this, but whilst people like Paul Clement are being touted for Premier League jobs I'll continue to shake my head in disbelief/shock/disgust that managers like Wilder are not being talked about higher up the pyramid.
 
Well done Chris Wilder !

My only concern is that an accolade like this, particularly with the points haul, will not go unnoticed...

I don't see it being long before other Chairmen are looking at 'our Chris' as an attractive option - especially considering how many Championship/Prem managers are getting the boot this season.

I hope he sticks with us - boyhood club and all that.. but like everything in football - money talks!

A last note.. if he was foreign, had a name like Cristiano Wildstroff and wore a fashionable coat then we'd have no chance of keeping him !!
 
I'm not worried about Wilder leaving, he's a loyal manager as they go and at his boyhood team. He's a job to do and whilever we're improving and giving him the chance to keep improving us, I reckon he'll stay.

I am, however, concerned more about Alann Knill. He did poorly in his last management spells which may put off some clubs but he has no ties to SUFC but is part of the very successful management team.

Wilder has been a manager for 15 years, mainly at non league level.
His only league achievement in that time would be winning league 2 and hopefully winning league 1.
He has no experience in the PL or Championship, no experience with big name players and his name won't be able to attract big name ready made players.

Imagine being a fan of a PL team with their millions hearing a suggestion to appoint Chris Wilder
They would get laughed out of town. The only time lower division managers are sometimes given a chance is when that club is desperate and the proposed manager was popular and has connections with that club.

It's been in the news many times that PL clubs don't give young English talented managers a chance.
The trend is to appoint foreign managers or bring in managers with impressive cv's.
When you have loads of money then why would a rich PL club take a gamble on Chris Wilder?

The last impressive young manager was Karl Robinson and no PL club showed any interest in him.
