Chris Taylor?

It's alright, I've never heard of about 95% of the names that seem to excite people on here.

Who on earth are Ryan Tafazolli, Lee Gregory, Dielna, Aaron Hughes (is he the really old one that played for Newcastle years ago?), Curtis Nelson, Gordon Greer and Matthieu Baudery?

I could be stood in a room with them all now and I wouldn't know it. I mean, I'm not, because I'm alone at the moment, but you get my drift.

Edit: ... and who is Duffy; the footballer, not the singer?

I'm with you on the names but I'd never heard of Deane or Agana either.

I'd be very frustrated and disappointed with this. We ought to be looking at much better, younger players.

This would just be another Ben Davies or a Martyn Woolford.

Surely we're not still to learn the lesson that older players on their way down is a route to be avoided.

Would be a great addition IMO, was part of Millwalls improved form at the end of the season, starting with his debut, and goal  against us at the New Den.

Neil Harris has already spoken about trying to lure him South in the summer, so if we land him ahead of one our rivals, it would be a good start.

Bit of an edge to the lad too, 100%er, and not afraid to put his foot in.

They certainly don't excite me in the way that the signings of Alan Young and Steve Finnieston did, and look where they got us ;)

"each 1k of memory is equivalent to 1024 digits of information"

8192 actually. That competition was bullshit. I demand a recount!

Good post mate. :)

First signing

I guess we're not signing him then... :p

Only true if you want the information in question to be a 1 or a 0. Need 8 bits (or 1 byte) for a single ASCII character, hence 1k of memory is enough to store 1024 alphanumeric ASCII characters. Use of "digits" is a bit misleading.

So 64 kilobytes (or 512 kilobits, if you prefer) is enough to store 65,536 individual alphanumeric characters, or about 13,100 words on average.

Coincidentally, the median length of books is generally around 64,000 words, or approx. 384,000 characters at an average of 5 letters/word, once you include the spaces. So a C64 could hold just over a sixth of a book in RAM, assuming no memory was taken up by the OS.

I'm here all week.

Just beat me to that reply

You might be correct if it said "character", it doesn't, it says "digit". In computing (as I'm sure you're already aware) a digit is a binary bit, so the point stands ;)

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. I can think of way better players than him. Another Hammond IMO.

Really hope this isn't true.

We've already got brought in two players who aren't the youngest, one of which being 30.

This would be a poor signing and a mistake.

That would leave us with two sides to the teamed can be confident in; Brayford or Basham and Duffy and then Hussey and Taylor.

One positive for me is that, before we sort out the middle of the park, we would already have 2 wingers who can score goals. Getting 15-20 from the flanks would be a big benefit.

Certainly has my backing in terms of building a team with recognised scorers in. Beats having no goals from Coutts and Woolford from the flanks.

Age isn't everything... there's much more to it than that.

Granted Hammond turned out to be a poor signing, but that's not simply because of the number of years he's been alive.

There are plenty of 30+ year old players that are still very fit and can offer invaluable experience and quality to help our promotion push.

We should be looking at as many players as we can. Not just limiting ourselves to young, fast ones to suit an agenda that's been pushed by so many Blades.

Let's see if Ronaldo is too old this Euros.

Where've I said age is everything? But if you're going to be daft enough to compare Ronaldo to league one players, there's not too much point in going any further.

"We've already got brought in two players who aren't the youngest, one of which being 30."

Explain this statement then please... because to me that's saying that we shouldn't sign players of a certain age, just because they're of a certain age (and the fact that we've already signed 2 players of said age).

No risk in signing Chris Taylor on a two year contract, just like Duffy. Neither of them will be too badly effected by age as they're not players who rely on pace to a large extent.

With those two in the squad we'd at least have two decent, productive wingers who can both play on both sides of the pitch. One right footed, one left footed. Both score goals - between them they'll easily get 15+.

Taylor would also be good in front of Hussey because he's a hard worker who'll help out defensively, which would be a boost if Hussey's not the best defensively and gets forward a lot. He's also a good height and has plenty of aggression, which we've been lacking.

The negative is that nor he or Duffy are that quick, and neither will be signing to be squad players, both would be starters. So we won't have that quick, direct winger most of us want to see. I think Taylor and Hussey would be a great, well balanced combination but the team balance would be improved if we had someone like Ariyibi from Chesterfield on the right.

I think we're likely to sign Taylor so I hope we sign a striker with pace to play alongside Sharp, like Eoin Doyle or Akinde.

Exactly what it says on the tin.

Simply making the point that we've already signed two older players, one of which being 30. And that it might be a good idea to now focus on younger players that fit more of an athletic body type with more pace.

Age is a factor, but he's just not a player I'd sign. He has little pace which is something very desirable in a winger, and we've already signed one slow winger, we certainly shouldn't be bringing in another. There's no way I can believe there's nobody better available.
