RE: schoolboy looks

Pretty telling he’s come out and said this. Would sicken me if we had a Saudi Prince on board, all McCabe’s spiel about not selling our best players now we’re up etc and then sell him anyway against the managers wishes.

Also says he’s after 1 perm signing rest being loans.

Seems backing may be lacking - if you’ll excuse my poetry... surprises none of us I imagine.

To be honest, if a club came in and offered £10 million for Brooks, I'd take it. I'd rather not sell him but if we replaced him with someone good, it wouldn't be the end of the world.
When Ademola Lookman went for 11mil from League One Charlton last year I’d be disgusted if we got less than them.

They got 11mil with sell ons. We should be aiming for 15 if he’s ‘got’ to be sold.

10m for a lad who was originally going on loan to Chesterfield is unbelievable value, especially with a loan back. I wouldn't blame the board personally, but do hope they give Wilder some money so it's not just 1 perm in this January.

Lookman is likely going to be the better player from what I have seen. I love some Brooks but I think we have over valued him over a few touches in the Derby

I agree sounds like the only way we are getting players of any quality is borrowing them from prem teams
And Barnsley have just become the 2nd richest club in the league. Bit daft really.

I heard it was £7.5m plus add ons to take it to £11m.

Totally totally disagree. On both counts.

Lookman can’t get in the Everton side for DCL. The same DCL who couldn’t get a game for us.

Brooks goal against Millwall was an absolute touch of class, his feet are dazzling and he is a little genius. Has it all. Would be a travesty to let him go on the cheap.

You might be right but I didn’t think there were any add ons bar a sell on fee - think it was just installments of the payment. I work with a Charlton fan so I’m only going on what he said could be wrong.

7.5 is still a fair old fee for a league one player.

Lookman's about five foot tall. He's not being kept out of the side by DCL. Totally different players, DCL has been playing down the middle as a lone striker.

That lucky cross? :)

Totally different player to Lookman so it figures that the fees can’t be compared

DCL has played plenty of games on the wing. Only since Big Sam’s come in he’s been used mainly as a striker.

There’s absolutely no way on earth he meant to cross that. Not a prayer.

It is. He only played in the Championship for about 25 games including subs. Had a bit better career with England youth but there's not a huge amount between him and Brooks. I suspect more clubs are interested in Brooks too which should, in theory, put the price up.

It's the beginning of the end for a manager if the board start interfering in player decisions.

So what if Brooks might be worth 10m, 15m now? Our chances of promotion are far greater with him here.

The chances of him getting injured are statistically very low. The more games he plays, the more international caps he gets, the more his value is only going to go one way.

For all we know Billy or Duffy's legs might have gone in a few months.

For me he stays, because whatever a club is willing to pay now, they will be willing to pay 5m more than that in a year. Possibly double if we are promoted. Selling him is only going to decrease that.

On his day he is a potential match winner and as play offs is looking a more likely aim, the more players who can rise to the big occasion, the better.

If I was CW I would be looking for a way out.

Other teams are looking to improve there position with spending we are just not able to compete on a financial level in the championship.

Don’t get me wrong I’m sure CW will do the best he can but come on. We are in the championship playoffs and we can only buy 1 player!!!!!

Come on!!!!

And what on earth makes you think wilder would get that money?

He would get a slither of it. Selling Brooks is pointless.

He will be a big player for this club in the future, the clamber that some of our fans have to sell off young talent at the first bid is bizarre to me.

Approaching a transfer window and I return :)

I’m not sure if this is him being clever. He will be in no doubt that the squad needs strengthening... but the calibre of player we’ll now be looking at will COST and cost big and I’m not sure we have the money.

Saying it’s ‘the boards decision’ is win win for him. He stays great... and if we do sell he’s publicly make the right noises. BUT given a choice of keeping Brooks and only being able to afford ‘one for the future/ a risk’ OR selling Brooks and getting someone (maybe 2/3) of real quality to fill the midfield void... it’s a pretty straight forward decision what we should do and actually what I’d have thought Wilder would want.

Similar to Adams/ DCL last year. If it finds promotion no-one should give a crap!

a) (selling) leading to b) (spending) is another debate tho.

Standard Caveat: my opinion would be very different if Coutts was fit.

You didn’t need to say anything after the first line for me. That’ll be the biggest sickener of all.

So is this Cole or Leonard? Interesting........

Wilder will be leading it. He’ll chuck the first table over in the boardroom, no doubt about it
I hope Amazon do a fly on the wall documentary for January like they have with Man City.
