A donny rovers mate of mine reckons they are sniffing around. Could we be letting our cult hero go?

Well, there 'is only one Chris Porter'...apart from that gay fellow on't t'internet...apparently...so I've been told......

I don't think Donny will be buying players this summer now the take over has gone tits up, New Direction indeed, makes you wonder how the South Barnsley massive and the West Yorkshire massive manage to find "fit and proper" investors :D

Carlisle United manager Keith Curle has revealed he is in talks to bring two experienced players to the club in January.

“We are looking for a bit of experience to add to the mix,” he told the club’s official website. “There’s a 31-year old striker I’m looking at and a 28-year old combative midfield player.

Got a feeling that it's Chris Porter, Keith knows him well too

Someone please tell me McGinn is 28 years old also?

i can't believe any so called blades fan can despise a player who has only ever tried his best for the club. He's not Ronaldo we all know that but he's worked his damndest and honestly while he's been with us.
This ^^^^^^^
Sorry to see him being the butt of jokes he's pulled a few rabbits out of the hat for us Blades and I wish him well.

Completely agree that anyone should wish to belittle the efforts that Porter gave to the cause. I would imagine that CP would be the first to admit his limitations, but at least he tried, and on very special occasions he was there to produce a few moments we'll all remember.

However long left he has as a professional player I hope it's worthwhile for Porter. I hope he does well and enjoys the next club who offer him a contract. UTB

Porter is just not good enough. Although a honest pro , Mr Clough should never have extended his contract. He does give effort , but whatever spin or niceties we put on it , he will go down in SUFC history ,the same as Chris Guthrie and Paul Williams.

Utter boll..I mean I disagree with you old chap.

Porter may not be the best CF we have had but he's hardly the worst. I don't understand the levels of criticism levelled at him.

"He may be shit but at least he's keen"

I would suggest he will go down as the bloke who helped us during our FA Cup run last season. His goals against Fulham (Premiership) and Forest (Championship) show he can score goals in spite of what the idiot faction choose to have you believe. The best? No way but not even close to the worst, although I am sure some here will say them and their mates on the Kop could do better.

Whatever slack Higdon is getting Porter was no worse.

I think the club gave him this season's contract as reward for helping them make all that money in the cup run

Bladesway , i do take on board what you and Pierres PC say but Chris Porter has never done it for me. Perhaps the criticism has been worst due to the performances to date by Higdon. This has certainly not helped with the fans frustrations.

The only reason we signed him , and then extended his contract was due to that desperate times ,require desperate measures.

However in saying all that , it will no doubt be the case that were ever he goes , and the same with Higdon ( if we off load in the JTW ), both could score goals , with the right kind of service.

It is not that I dislike the guy , it's a case were we want to be this season. ,he is not the right kind of calibre and never will be, that's football.

Porter actually offers plenty to the team, it's rare for him not to win a header for example. He occupies centre backs to allow space for others and gets the odd goal. Just because he's gone about it in a slightly gangly way he's turned into some sort of joke in which everyone assumes he is actually shit, when in reality he's far from it.

Also don't understand the McGinn hatred, had we not bought so many midfielders he's a perfectly decent squad player to cover all the midfield positions.

Think this has been the problem with the exception of the Ched season every year. We could buy 10 forwards but they won't get the chancestors to score goala because recently we haven't had the supply line. Said before you can have Messi and Ronaldo up top but with some quality of supply they won't ever see a chance.

Funnily enough, at half time today my lad said that Chris Porter was better than Leon Clarke. I couldn't come up with a reasonable argument against tbh
