Suppose any question could provoke if the recipient wanted it to. Thought it was fair myself, they’ll obviously have picked up new things (Freeman as a right back won’t have faced many players like Bale, for example, even if it’s only in training)

I heard it as them picking up new ideas that fuck over United, which i think is what Wilder heard.

You know him don't you :)

Maybe I'm just heartless, insensitive and hard as nail, but I'm not sure what you saw in that. The question was a bit left field so needed a bit of thought, but he just answered it.
I was expecting him to have pulled him up on a stupid question or something similar.

I think it all started when he asked him about Lundstram not long after he'd joined (commentator not Lundstram). Can't remember what it was exactly but along the lines of 'we've had a lot of criticism for Lundstram on the phone-ins, what do you think ?'. There's definitely not the same joviality between these 2 as there generally is with 'Gids' as others have said.

I think Wilder is bordering on being quite rude with the new guy, which can be a bit cringy. Not sure if there is history to it.

The interviewer can ask what he wants, Wilder can reply how he wants. It's how they deal with it which is the measure of the man.

Definitely get the impression that CW hasn't 'warmed' to him and he just makes him grumpy

I heard that interview on RS last night. For me, the thing "Mike" got wrong was to infer that the players going away on international duty would "learn new things" and come back with "new ideas". I don't think he meant anything wrong by that, it was awkwardly put though because it is a sort of slur on the learning and ideas that they get under Wilder's tutelage. So I'm not surprised he took a bit of umbridge at it - but that was mild by Chris and I think he responded well.

The question could easily be misconstrued as a dig and if ‘Mike’ can’t structure his questions better, he’s never likely to be on Wilders Christmas card list, but may well very soon be on his hit list.

It is very clear that Mike thinks the South Yorkshire sides are a poor second to Premiership Leicester City.

His condescending question inferred, that the players went away on international duty and were guided by some top class coaches and better teammates . It is therefore, surely to Uniteds benefit that these players returning from international duty, can bring some of those superior coaching techniques back to Shirecliffe and re-educate Wilder, Knill and the rest of the fucking chancers laughingly referred to as the coaching staff.

I’m not surprised that Wilder was narked, Mike is a dick ;)

(I’ve always been a bit suspicious about blokes called Michael, who prefer to be called Mike to Mick. Mick being the more masculine of the two options, in my opinion of course)

For me, the interviewer identified a pertinent issue but made a mess of the question by giving it the wrong emphasis.

We have countless players going away on international duty these days, but far from being exposed to better training, tactics or whatever, crucially our lads are spending 7-10 days away playing a completely different style (because nobody else plays our system - certainly not the international sides) and diluting the good habits that benefit our team.

For example, what on earth can Enda Stevens have learnt playing as a conventional left-back who never crossed the half-way line, in a flat back-four playing for dinosaur O'Neil, that will in any way help him play the buccaneering wing-back role for United tomorrow?

Our results and performances after international breaks have shown how we are suffering from it. Frankly, as nice as it is for the individuals to get the recognition, I'd actually prefer it if none of our players were getting call-ups.

The bloke doesn’t sound right. Sounds like a posh git. Wilder probably still annoyed Radio Sheff sold “Jonny” Buchan to Radio Leeds on deadline day.

I did say on here, when he was first appointed, that he would struggle to be accepted because he doesn't sound like a local. He should have realised that he was coming to the Royston Vasey zone in the first place.

For what it's worth, I think he's quickly got to grips with the local football scene and he sounds "intelligent". But that's part of the problem.

I found this photo of him on Twitter:

It's not getting any better is it?
