One example, and I'd argue that was a lack of concentration or frustration or indeed a lack of urgency rather than being a bad bit of defending.Having pace to burn doesn't make you a good player. He's decent going forward but isn't a good defender, highlited against Coventry when he needlessly ran the ball out of play then walked back to his position allowing Coventry to take a quick throw and score. He's a good player but not as good as some would have you believe.
'A decent championship player that's been in form this season' - it's literally his second proper seasonI agree on Seriki; a decent Championship player that’s been in good form this season but that’s it really for me. In his favour is his athleticism but he can be very sloppy on the ball, decision making and passing need work.
And he’s still young with loads of development ahead of him. Look at how far he’s come this season. One example, and I'd argue that was a lack of concentration or frustration or indeed a lack of urgency rather than being a bad bit of defending.
Lots of people say he's a bad defender but struggle with examples. They're just pre conceptions. Not to mention it can be worked on in training.
It's absolutely crackers. What's not to like about one of our own, who has tore several teams a new un from right back, is developing at a rate of knots and is the most exciting player we've had to watch since Illi (not discounting Brooks)? Well apparently according to our lot, quite a bit.And he’s still young with loads of development ahead of him. Look at how far he’s come this season.
He didn't need to be good at defending yesterday, WBA offered little threat from a attacking sense.Agree Seriki but he is but he’s crap at defending
I'd prefer Brooks myself. Raw power and speed. He will go a long way in the game under the right manager and coaching team.Well someone is going to get an excellent player in the summer if all these rumours are true. That's what will be gutting for us if it's allowed to happen
I wouldnt trust the current hierarchy to tun a bath let alone hire a decent manager. They shit the bed with selles. I think they'll go for another left field again.....Word salad bollox. Wilder Sounds bereft of ideas or any insight into what is going on. Not his fault in any way, apparently, the players keep making ‘poor decisions’. Strategy was right, tactics were right, so no problems with the management - the players are just are too stupid to expedite the ‘master plan’. Yet another half time talk and reset that produces absolutely zero change in mindset or tactics. Unsurprisingly, doing nothing produces the same result. I like the guy, think he is genuine and passionate about the club. However, rinse and repeat ain’t working and time for a change. The play off final isn’t a bad bad memory, it’s a recurring nightmare
Always good to see a neutral perspective. You would have been promoted last season if there wasn't 2 other sides that got 100 points. How often isn't 90 points enough after taking your foot off the gas once the others had pulled away. Your squad wasn't brilliant but he got them playing with a siege mentality and it worked. His prize for this was the sack and his squad changed. After finding out how poor a squad you were left with his replacement got the sack and he came back to save you.
You've been left with an average Championship squad. He can't be blamed for this. He is a limited manager but he is good at what he does. But yes, he can be creative with his post match interviews, but there's a lot worse out there.
Hes not a prem player yet, needs another season with us, maybe a club will test the water with an offer, obviously if its ridiculous, snap there hands off.Well someone is going to get an excellent player in the summer if all these rumours are true. That's what will be gutting for us if it's allowed to happen
I'd agree with that. I think he's a decent player and still young enough to improve defensively. My issue is more with people believing a Premier league team will pay big money for him. I just don't see it unless they're spending money on potential like Osula. One example, and I'd argue that was a lack of concentration or frustration or indeed a lack of urgency rather than being a bad bit of defending.

Excellent post!Always good to see a neutral perspective.
Personally, I think he’s lost a lot of the elements that he had about him previously.
Like him or loath him, his sides used to reflect our character. To be able to get an extra 10% out of players who didn’t have 10% to give. I just don’t see that now, in him or the players.
It genuinely pains me to say these things. What he has achieved for us puts him up there with Warnock and Bassett in my time (John Harris was a bit before me sadly).
But this now, puts me in mind of Mohammed Ali shambling around the ring when he was clearly done. Even true greats lose their power eventually![]()
Is this sarcasm? What has not being able to do a qualification got to do with understanding and executing playing a football match. To be fair, the majority of the current squad are pretty thick, and a couple of the handful that aren’t are past it or just not very good. The intelligent ones are Bamford, Riedewald, Mee, Bindon and McGuinness. The rest of them are, at best, not very bright.
Intelligence, understanding and particularly speed of thought have nothing to do with passing exams. Is this sarcasm. What has not being able to do a qualification got to do with understanding and executing playing a football match.
Intelligence of the subject content and understanding + speed of thought does in all the qualifications I teach.Intelligence, understanding and particularly speed of thought have nothing to do with passing exams.
How instinctive ,intuitive and organic is teaching when you are placed under strict guidelines to follow a curriculum put together by those that seem to imagine we all belong in a box and are criticised for thinking outside it.Intelligence of the subject content and understanding + speed of thought does in all the qualifications I teach.
I have worked with hundreds of people with very impressive qualifications who haven’t got the first clue how to apply what they have learned.Intelligence of the subject content and understanding + speed of thought does in all the qualifications I teach.
I won't say where I work but there is a flow of graduates coming straight in at senior manager level. Most are intelligent but then most can't adapt or adjust to challenging situations (essential for the job) and most lack emotional intelligence simply because they've not had the opportunity old gits like me have, to have to strife and work through difficult circumstances and learn from them.I have worked with hundreds of people with very impressive qualifications who haven’t got the first clue how to apply what they have learned.
It takes an outsider to see how it isYou would have been promoted last season if there wasn't 2 other sides that got 100 points. Not their fault but being dropped into senior roles with little life skills means some learn and thrive whilst others implode!
It's not the "poor result" that bothers me, it's the crap performance that led to it.From where we were when he came back to where we are now, Chris has done a good job steering us away from danger and having us look up the table instead of down it. Casting our minds back a few months, we could easily still be in the mix with West Brom and co
Yesterday was a poor result that leaves us with an uphill and improbable battle to reach the play offs that were always something of a pipe dream.
The frustration is with the dull football we lapse back into when our best performances have been on the front foot and looking to attack.
We need to win probably 7 out the next 10.
At the end of the day, a lot rests with the donuts running the show at the top and all told, CW has done well with the hand that he was dealt.
The biggest bugbear is how shit most sides in the Championship are, particularly this year, and we've missed the boat on promotion courtesy of hiring a Spanish PE teacher in the summer who is out of his depth no matter where he ends up.
He has to take some of the blame. The vast majority of the players in that average championship squad were bought by Wilder. You would have been promoted last season if there wasn't 2 other sides that got 100 points. Just like Albert Einstein. If we'd signed him in 1915, we'd probably not have won the FA Cup. Small margins and all that. That’s why I mentioned not being very good. Very intelligent but a poor footballer.
