I reckon last weekend's game might have been his best yet.

The first part of his game that seemed to develop over the season was defensive responsibility - not letting the opposition rest on the ball and pick a pass. He's even managed to cover left back a couple of times, shows a real commitment to the cause and a willingness to work hard.

The shot in the first minute showed real confidence and skill - I think the cliche is short backlift.

For me he still could do with a trick or two to beat a man when strength, power, and acceleration aren't what's needed - but he showed signs of this with a couple of moves...

...just before his lay off for Hammond's shot - which was just one example of his link up play.

And for the first time (that I've noticed anyway) a couple of times he put himself between the player and the ball.in open play - something Billy (and Jay) do really well.

A very good performance. All that was missing was a goal.

(Widening it out a bit, the way Che and George Long have developed over the season, it looks like Adkins and team are able to develop young players.)

Yeah kind of thought it was going the other way earlier this season with reports of poor attitude. Seems he;s on the straight and narrow now and coming on leaps and bounds. Hope this doesn't mean what it normally does with us, would like to see him stay with us.

Since he came back into the team, he and Sharp have learned how to play as a partnership. That level of awareness is something he never showed previously, so yeah, he's coming along nicely.

When was the last time we had two 20+ goalscorers in the same season?

As long as we don't sell (& fingers crossed regarding injuries), we've got getting on for 50 goals sorted for next season.

So as long as the back 3, and goalie, let no more than 12 goals a piece in, wer'e in profit.

William Henry Foulkes sorry to say, but of all the players last week, Che was the most disappointing in an overall good team performance. It's not to say he didn't play his part, because he did. In spells.

Positionally I think he really needs to work with the coaches, and if he's to play alongside Billy he needs to learn. His anticipation of crosses was poor (so were the crosses, but he wasn't anticipating them). His anticipation of his strike partner was non existent and unless he has the ball at his feet to run forward he doesn't see much else

Che is finally taking on board the coaching he is getting. That was his best game in a blades shirt

Good post.

I would like to see George Long develop further as he still makes a mistake a game.

Whenever he comes off his line he misses the ball and his communication with his defence is poor.

Maybe this needs a new thread, but our George needs to improve.

We'll be selling him in the summer anyway so it's pointless thinking about a partnership with Sharp.

Stick to reeling out highlights of the benefits Sammon brings - as we'll have him or an equivalent striker up front with Sharp next season, if we don't sell Sharp as well that is.

Like you say this needs a new thread, but he will improve, he's still very young for a keeper but next season will be crucial.

Same for Adams who needs to grow up and learn the game and how to concentrate. Last match was the first time I have been happy with his 90 minute contribution and I must say at times he was brilliant, scored him 8.

he's not 20 till the summer. Still a bit rough around the edges but got some real potential that United need to nurture and benefit from by making sure he's still here next season.

Hmmmnnn rhe partnership worked well did it?

No goals to show is the key stat.
If they continue to create chances and begin to stick them away and one or either bags a brace a game -over a run of back to back wins - that's the indicator the partnership is working.

He's improved some aspects of his game lately. Adkins has committed to playing him as a centre forward and hopefully he continues to learn the position and improve. He's defending from the front more than he was earlier in the season which is a good sign. He's still a bit naive when it comes to positioning and anticipation but hopefully he can continue to improve these parts of his game. I think he still needs work on his movement and shielding the ball (though that is improving).

I don't see them as a 50 goal partnership next season. They're on course to just hit 30 this season and a reasonable improvement next year would be if they could get 35 to 40 between them. We'll need our midfield to contribute a few more goals than they have this season to have a chance I reckon. It shouldn't be too much to ask for one midfielder to score 7 or 8 in a season.

I like Adams and there's no denying he's got great prospects if he can overcome the off-field issues and improve his concentration, control and movement off the ball.

However, I'm still unconvinced about the Sharp / Adams partnership ....... don't think they will score enough goals together for it to be a roaring success.

I still want to see us bring in a big, strong, pacey striker to play with Sharp ......

UTB & FTP

Very noticeable last Saturday the new sense of a partnership between the two. I even saw Adams ask Billy what happened when Flynn had accidentally contributed apparently to putting Billy off his shot. Billy pointed at Ryan....what was good was for a change....communication. Not behaving as if a set of 11 people who've never met.

Thought Che played well today. Was a real handful for their back-line throughout and his work ethic was better than it's been.

"Donnnn't sell Adams..."

Most improve player for me looks solid and most importantly he's putting in consistent performances. Him and sharpy up top next year should give us 40+

But what if we sell to the same club?

Like many, I wont be counting on Adams being here next season. He is a good player with potential so will be sold to someone like Fulham for an undiclosed fee never to be seen again.

Deane and Agana, 1989 was the last time 2 players got 20 in the league.
And if forums were in existence they'd probably have had someone moaning about them.

My first proper season going regularly was that one. I'll always look back fondly in it.
