You cant defend the players on missing 3 penaltys in 10 games. Thats not because of pressure, its because of lack of mental strength.

The only defence is that all 3 pens were well saved by the keepers.
I hate the fact that we didn't score any of them, but they weren't missed they were saved.

but they weren't missed they were saved.

Out of the 3 we've had, I could have saved 2 of them, only Hulse's pen was a great save.

Hulse should have showed a bit more mental strength and stepped up IMO.

We're gonna be fucked next pen we get, no-ones gonna want to take it.

but they weren't missed they were saved
Thats the oldest excuse in the book.

The taker is expected to score the penatly, the keeper is not expected to save them.

I'd love to see the stats from this years penalties so far... it seems that more and more are being missed recently across the board.

We really should be getting a higher success rate, but praise to anyone with the balls to step up to take one infront of an expectant crowd of that size.

Not an excuse though is it?
It's the truth, all three pens were on target. The keeper went the right way and saved them. With the same pens if the keeper would have gone the other way they'd have been in, hence not missed (implying they did a Waddle) but saved.

Everyone who has an opinion on the penalty debacle at Bramall Lane should look back at 3 former Blades penalty takers.

- Dane Whitehouse
- Peter Duffield
- Alan Roberts

All 3 had something in common. They could all hit a ball with pace exactly where they wanted it (on the floor, in the corner). No keeper who didn't begin their dive ridiculously early could stop them (I say ridiculously early because every keeper dives early). People who say penalties are gambles are talking shite and IMO the same goes for those who say players should just blast them down the middle. Only players with no skill should have to resort to that. A bit of common sense and a fair amount of skill is all you need. I'd be happy for Quinn to take a penalty cos I think he's got both.

But 2 of them were crap side footed penos that my nan could have saved.
