I would have preferred Ki-Jana Hoever if I'm to be honest, but hopefully Gilchrist can have an impact. Just don't know where he will fit in our setup given we have Anel & Souttar here and will need some attacking output from our wide players. I think its easier to teach defending than it is attacking (see Baldock at RWB for a number of seasons).

Cheers Rotston, hopefully a busy week for you matey!!

The Hoever reviews worried me a bit. Seemed to be really inconsistent and his defending was really called into question

Whilst there’s the worry he could be just TOO limited on the ball a la Carter Vickers, after last season I think our fans are just gagging for a genuinely solid defender and a proper competitor at the back.

Get a keeper in and we’re at least ready to start the season and have avoided a repeat of that Crystal Palace abomination

No, knowing how it works with us, he will probably turn out to be a cracker, make himself indispensable to the team, and then move on to at the end of the season . ..

Looks like a proper thug

Tries hard

That'll do for me just if that was all they said! I'm sure in the championship and playing as a right back rather than rwb he should be fine. Hopefully has some pace too?

2 thugs in 2 days.

Who'd thugged it eh?

Just what we need

UTB

Edit: good signing United. Who's next?

Sounds like the sort of player that our fans will appreciate. We do really need defenders who enjoy and excel at defending.
Will be interesting to see what formation we start with now we actually have the players for a back 5 and sounds as if Burrows would be better as an LWB.

Doesn't have to be the greatest right back in history just solid enough that he doesn't get beat by very average wingers on this league. Also, he needs to not give up as easy as some last year. Give 100% and he'll do just fine. Thanks Roy, and I agree Hoover gave me more worries than this fella.

Tell that to Bogle or Alexander Arnold

I would think Anel might start at full back, with Gilchrist as cover CB and RB. Gilchrist has not played a lot of football, particularly at right back, so not convinced he is going straight in as a starter. We know that Anel has that capacity to carry the ball and get into good attacking positions.
