i can't believe how calm Ched sounds in the article.

I'm not bitter,' Evans told talkSPORT. 'I didn't believe anger or bitterness would help me in any way, so it's just been a case of getting on with it and being happy for what I've got.

I would Honestly rip the females who can't be mentioned fukin heart out with a pair of blunt scissors.

His life has and still his been a living hell. have there any remorse from the bastard's who branded him before and after the tria l/ sentence. Ennis Hill, Charlie Webster, Paul Heaton to name but 3 who either resigned or publicly at the height of proceedings jumped on the band wagon. I remember being at MK dons a few days later and fights breaking out. At Doncaster where stewards were called in after 1 fat fuck at the left of the goal was the only fat fuck slagging Ched off.

Hats of to McCabe for bringing him back. Just hope he get's his gets his fitness back and scores that many goal this sorry episode can be but to rest forever.

I for one never believed Ched was Guilty and still believes he has a future at BDTBL.

But more importantly they are really badly informed and judging by the numbers of likes DM readers have given the comments it's about 4 to 1 against Evans. So even after having been found 'innocent' (although I thought it was actually 'not proven') the original outcome seems to have stuck with most people.
 
There's no 'not proven' verdict in English law. He's innocent, plain and simple. His younger self might be guilty of acting like a twat, but the real villain of the piece is whichever person in the CPS decided to press ahead with a flimsy case in order to 'send a signal'. Vera Baird was in chare of the CPS at the time iirc and she was a textbook example of the kind of left-winger who sees the purpose of the law as being social engineering.

The DPP is head of the CPS. Vera has never held that office.

There is no verdict of not proven, neither is there a verdict of innocent. Not Guilty means that no juror (or no more than two in the event of a majority verdict) is sure that the defendant is Guilty. No jury is ever asked whether a defendant is innocent. It suffices that he or she might be innocent, or more accurately ‘might not be Guilty’.

A Not Guilty verdict means that, for all practical purposes, the acquitted defendant is entitled to be treated as innocent but it doesn’t declare him or her to be innocent.

That's an interesting viewpoint one which I'd not heard before. I also thought he was relentless pursued by one media outlet to take the pressure off them for their proven association in allowing decades of rape and abuse take part within their walls. Evans case was perfect for them which and sadly came along just at the right/wrong time.

What a ridiculous comment.

You can't rip an organ out just with blunt scissors. You'd have to use the scissors to make an incision in the chest cavity, then use a hacksaw to open up the ribcage before plunging your hand in to rip the offending organ out with that.

Vera Baird was Solicitor General, ie the Government minister overseeing the work of the CPS. But she wasn't in that role at the time so the point is moot. I was misremembering in part because as SG she was instrumental in changing the CPS guidance on rape cases (essentially seeking to reverse the burden of proof) and she subsequently joined the pile-on when McCabe tried to bring Evans back.

Your legal point is incorrect. In English law, a not guilty verdict amounts to a declaration of innocence in the eyes of the law of the charges. It is not the same as 'not proven' in Scottish law and this matters in particular as regards the possibility of a retrial on the same offence. You are of course free to continue to take the view that Ched was probably guilty or is definitely guilty of some offence against morality, but he is innocent as far as the law is concerned of the offence for which he was imprisoned.

Double standards from the gutter press. For Evans always quote convicted rapist or refer to rapist in any article about him even though he is innocent of the crime. Why because he's a lower league football player and easy target. For Mike Tyson completely ignore the fact he still is a convicted rapist when writing about him as he's a former boxing world champion.

Where is Evans still referred to as ‘rapist’ in an article since he was found not guilty in his retrial?
