Are they the most likely partners to start off the season? Will they work together well? Will they both score goals? I think all three are probably a yes.

Ched's got real desire now to improve on his own personal performance from last season in which he showed he's still got it. Under Chris Wilder I'm sure we're going to see a whole new Ched Evans.

Leon showed towards the end when he finally became match fit that he certainly has an eye for goal and Wilder looks to be getting some form out of him. Billy and Clarke for me.

Sharp and Clarke will be the favoured two but i think we'll increasingly need to draw on the pace and directness of Lavery. Ched's fitness is anyone's guess at the moment!

Basham did look a bit worried by him.

Basham landed on his arse a couple of times against Evans . More worrying what championship forwards will do to Bash this season , if he can be rolled over Evans .

No real pace in the front two with any of our forwards . Evans will not be all things to all men , like it or like it not , we are still a side who lacks pace . Will it make a difference in the championship - no idea .

Tbf, that was Ched's speciality. I was furious when Bash got too tight to him, he should have been well aware of Ched's ability to roll defenders.

This is it. Evans is 4th choice at best. That's before we sign any more strikers this summer.

Lavery and Sharp/Evans as the default for me.

Hoping with a full pre season, Lavery can push on. He's got the pace and directness to make a huge impact next season.

Yes they can form a partnership. Actually I reckon that Ched will outscore Billy next season if he's anything like the player he was before.

Even if he is fully fit, I think Ched will be introduced sparingly back to action in the first few months of the season. Wilder will be sensitive to the fact he's not played a lot of football for a long time and will want to ease him back into it. I can see him getting on the pitch for 20 or 30 minutes as a second half sub in those first 10-12 games and seeing how he does. If he's looking sharp and not picking up further injuries then we may see him getting a start in the team from October onwards. I think it's important not to heap too much pressure and expectation on him from the start, which could lead to disappointment and injuries. It will also give the media time to adjust a bit to the fact he's playing for us again and to get all that negative rubbish out of their system.

If he gets anywhere near as good as he was when he last played for us he'd be the number 1 striker for me - because he was unplayable back then. But I'd certainly not rush him through at first.

Sharp has to be the first striker's name on the team sheet after last season, but I honestly think he'll need to up his performances a bit from what we saw in many games last year. He won't find it as easy to score goals in the Championship and I feel, at times, it was only the fact that he was always likely to score a goal that kept him on the pitch.

Could Sharp and Evans play together? I don't see why not - but pace would be the question here? Evans used to have it, but I wouldn't rely on him having it now - and Billy has never had a lot of it. If we are getting pace from elsewhere though, i.e. from the flanks in the form of Thomas and whoever else we may sign, then we could carry two strikers who may be a bit short of it.

I think the starting line up, based on what we know at present, should be Clarke and Sharp. If during a game that isn't working then we've got Lavery (who does have some pace and could emerge as one of our main strikers this coming season). I'd see Hanson as a bit-part player for when we need to make the ball stick up front and want more of an aerial challenge.

I also still think we may yet sign another striker - as I've said before - maybe a promising young 'un who isn't part of a Prem team's first 25.

I was one of those who raised an eyebrow when Evans was signed.......but I soon realised that it was pointless maintaining a position against CE. I'm looking forward to seeing him once again in a Blades' shirt, and like every Blade's player Evans will get my full support...as for any reservations about his previous form and whether he can add to our play, I recall last season at Chesterfield, he asked a set of questions that our defence struggled to answer. He looked impressive and showed a level of play that I can only hope he'll be able to deliver as a Blade. No doubt Wilder, Knill, and the rest of United's backroom staff, will ensure that his fitness is exactly what it should be, and with this his skill, his pace (here's hoping he still has this in his armoury), and his determination to prove a point, Evans will answer any questions that we all hope he'll be able to deliver on.

As far as deals go this could be one of best we've ever been involved in, and as we all should be aware, the need for firing power will be crucial. Good luck to Evans and every other player who pulls on a Blade's shirt next season.

If we can get a good defensive unit sorted I think we will surprise a lot of people next season. Definitely top half, possibly top six. At least we can enjoy that dream for now.

Interesting points. However,if Ched is fully fit will a Wilder pre season under his belt why not unleash him. There will not be a hungrier more motivated striker in English football.

A fully fit Ched would have had a field day with the chances we created last season and probably outscored Billy.

Even though we scored a bucket load we could and probably should have had even more as we were extremely wasteful at times.

In all honesty I reckon they could probably work well together but think we'll see Sharp and Clarke start as 1st choice unless we do as Alan Nixon is alluding to and spend big on another striker.

I'll say it now.

As it stands, there is fuck all chance our preferred starting 2 will be Sharp and Clarke. And with good reason.

The 2 are NOT a pairing to be relied upon to work well together.

The evidence is there. With very few exceptions they did not link or compliment each other at all well. Both have their attributes and can have a part to play. But not as a pair. IMHO.

With the kind of service that we provided last year, I'll confidently predict Ched n Bill will surprise loads, and will link and compliment each other in ways none of the other current options possibly could.
