Che Adams is tweeting that he is very ill and a doubt for Saturday , who do we start instead woolford or flynny ?? Discuss

Woolford is more than good enough to play.
Would like to see Che given a little rest now anyway, he's just played two games in a week and was quiet before that for us.

We need to remember he's only 19 still, this is why relying on just him to replace Murphy was always going to be a stupid move. Good job we have players ready waiting for a chance.

That's no excuse. Were you not aware that the average age of a combat soldier in Vietnam was 19?

;)

No idea why anyone wouldn't want Woolford to start.

Personally I'd start him even if Adams was fit.

I wouldn't go as far to say i'd start him infront of Adams if he was fit but there's no problem with Woolford starting any game, he's influenced many games already this season and will play an integral part this season for us.

At 21 my father was dumped on a beach in Normandy at H hour with a bike! He then had to run up a beach whilst being fired at & seeing friends & others being hit by bullets etc. He then fought on through the day until he virtually collapsed with exhaustion [along with others] & waited to see if any food would be brought up. Next day was pretty much the same............etc.......etc

And we have people saying 2 games a week is a bit much whilst collecting ?k per week, it is utterly outrageous! And all my old dad gets at 92 is about £35 a week war pension. Oh I forgot to mention his nerves have been shot for the last 71 years!

2 games per week is too much, some of those lumps playing for us ought to be sent up a beach with a rifle trained on the last man, that would thin out this bloated squad or at least get some of them fitter!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if Adams has failed a drugs test. Isn't 'virus' or 'illness' what Jose Baxter had last year for the play off semi?

Doesn't this miss the point?

And the wages are irrelevant to the issue.

It's about fitness relative to the opposition. The margins in almost any professional game of football are actually quite tight: if a player is playing repeatedly without rest then it is likely they will either have some kind of knock (even minor) which will take the edge off their game, or they will tire relative to the opposition later in the game, or even - given levels of concentration required in some games - they may switch off at an important moment.

Of course they are capable of playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday.

Are they capable of playing at or near their best for the whole of each of those games and not being susceptible to injuries? It'll be different for each player but generally I imagine someone who can would be an exception.

The massive advancements made in the application of sports science to football have lead to modern footballers being finely tuned athletes and an understanding of the need to allow sufficient recovery time between games to permit continued performance at peak conditioning.

When people refer to players being 'tired' it's just shorthand for not recovering enough to perform at optimum levels. It's a shame people still don't understand this.

I am surprised a (super fit?) 19 year old pro footballer has managed to miss 3 games with a virus and with no sign of a return. Considering the way footballers are looked after these days I think that is a bit odd.

Generic injury titles like 'virus' or 'illness' are often used to cover up things like: depression; failed drug test; family problems; mens health issues.

You think he might be impotent? Like our defence?
