Charlie Webster on Chris Wilder

Get ready for the bilious posts about her now!

Of course she was entitled to her own view on Ched and should not be vilified for it, but it's a shame she wasn't more supportive of our club. The national media launched a witch hunt of a man who turned out to be innocent, so to see our own 'fans' chucking the club under the bus really pissed me off.

No bilious views from me, but I note with interest she is now a big fan again.

Nuff said.

All a bit too good to be true for me and will be toe curling for non Blades. I prefer the narrative of wilder as a clough like figure who the players don't particularly like but respect like hell and will strive till they cough up blood in their efforts to gain his good favour.

It's why I have no problem with Jess Ennis, she wasn't a fan of the club and clearly didn't want the media attention of an issue I doubt she cared about. Where as Webster courted attention so she could throw the club she 'supports' under a bus.

That being said abusing her over her decision is sad and pathetic.

I like Charlie Webster - shame some of the more embarrassing of our fans give her shit for caring about domestic violence.

Plus there need to be more articles about Wilder’s sexiness.

I don't know about other fans, but I never blamed her for one minute for sticking up for domestic violence. What I didn't like was that she disassociated herself from the club, because the club had made the decision to give an innocent man another chance to get his life back in order. She jumped on the bandwagon of headline seekers that used this particular case to further raise their own profile, that was her number 1 objective in my opinion, and she didn't care much about the damaging effect that may have on the club she claimed to support.

As to the article, I think it's "o.k." nothing more. I do like the fact that it gives a bit of an insight into Sheffield life and Sheffield people. But I'm puzzled as to what era she grew up in, because it says that "Wednesday were always the most successful side"? I saw Wednesday have a successful side in the 1980's once and maybe again in the early 1990's, but for most of the time I've been watching they've been garbage - and that includes the last 20 years since they were last in the Prem. I'm afraid she's reinforcing a stereotype here and we should not encourage that.

And as for Wilder being "sexy" - I'm sorry, and no disrespect to Chris because maybe to some women out there he is - but this is just London agency gutter speak - something we've copied again, from America. Calling something "sexy" when what you mean is "new" "innovative" "interesting" . He's all those last three things for sure. But "sexy?" - totally unnecessary use of the word to describe his fantastic achievements at our club.

It's perhaps not too strange to see that she's now jumping on another bandwagon, the "aren't Sheffield United doing well!", bandwagon, to remind everyone that she's still around. I'd be quite happy never to hear from her again tbh.

Ched Evans was still convicted at the time, wasn't he? He was only innocent in hindsight (and still clearly a twat, and also shit).

You might be right about that Guesty - what I probably should have said is, he'd served his sentence and been released from prison - therefore he was a "free" man.

It says alot about the people going after them that only the female people who spoke out about the club signing someone who at the time was a convicted rapist and not the men who did the same.

She was 100% in the right. A real low moment for the club.

Luckily we've moved past that whole sordid affair no matter how much some people cling onto it and STILL send vile shit to the likes of her and Jess Ennis.

No real issues with her. Totally understood her reasons for distancing herself from the club at the time Evans was convicted and released (he was still guilty at that point), as patron and representative of domestic violence and abuse against women charities (and someone who was abused) she had little option.

In line with the old adage 'If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all', I'll refrain from expressing my opinion on Webster which isn't solely based on her actions during the Evans saga but from numerous interactions and observations from as far back as when when she was a High Storrs pupil to current day. Those people gushing praise and admiration for her and her actions are perhaps tainted by her publicising (when it suits) her affiliation with the club.

If Chris Wilder was a writter he could have chosen the name Charlie Webster as his writters alias.......but he's not so thats that.

I never knew who Charlie Webster was until she popped up on TV to slate the club about the Ched saga, those years were hard to bear as a fan nothing was going right.

Me personally i rather not here what the so called celeb Blade fans have to say about what Chris Wilder/team is achieving.

I posted in this thread on a day when we go to Brighton with the chance of grabbing a record,a positive for the Wilder era....and the first thread i see/saw was Charlie Webster.

It's fascinating and mesmerising to be a Sheffield United fan right now....

Not going to vilify her, she stuck up quite rightly against domestic violence but in my opinion she turned on the club not just Ched a bit to easily. Don't recall her being so upfront about being a Blades fan in the midst of the whole football and a ‘cause grabbing world‘ condemning us.

That said it’s like Brexit, time to move on and mend the wounds just like CWAK have done since arriving here. Ched is yesterday’s chip paper that no one cares about anymore.

Fuck off Webster. Hope you enjoyed having your photo taken with convicted rapist Mike Tyson.

Why didn't Webster resign and go on TV when we signed convicted sex offenders and woman beater Marlon King?

King even scored directly underneath the Ennis stand (what an embarrassment that was) yet there was silence from Ennis.

Heaton et al also said/did nothing about Marlon King signing but kicked up a fuss about Evans and tried to milk publicity.

Sean Bean acted most appropriately imho
