Does Hecky need to be brave and change to a back 4?
Although we have been generally sound defensively, we are just not creating enough chances.
For me the current back 5 are not good enough in our preferred formation. Davies and Filip don't look comfortable joining in the attack and George and Stevens are no longer up to the wing backs roles.

Unfortunately we do not have any wide players to take advantage of 433 or 442, ( ok possibly Berge )
in theory 5 at the back makes us more solid, well it would if Davies ever won a tackle and baldrick did not commit unnecessary fouls.

It's not the formation that are the issue. It's the players available. Stevens and Baldock are ineffective going forward, and the midfield three are ineffective. Norwood is great one week, woeful the next, and incapable of putting in back to back performances. Hourihane was sat so deep today that he was practically a sweeper. So that left Osborn, a left footed player playing on the right of midfield to create anything going forward. All three played safety balls all game in just giving it to the nearest Blade without any attempts to drive forward or open up Reading. It was slow, predictable, ineffective and shit. Granted we have a lot of injuries but that midfield three is shit and we haven't had a consistently effective one all season.

Baldock annoys me more than any player and has done for the last three seasons. He's massively over rated. He doesn't dribble with the ball or attempt to take on his man. When he gets played in past him he stops, passes backwards, then receives the ball back from the same player he just passed to before crossing it into a now crowded box, as he's given the opposition all the time in the world to get back through hesitation. He never puts in an early cross, even when he's unmarked and past his marker. Even when he does cross it, it's either over hit or too close to the keeper. He's crap.

He could have gone with a back four today with the change at half time, but the team would still have been shit. Osborn would have played left wing, Berge right wing with everyone else as they were, just like when Jokanovic tried it, it would have been crap and ineffective. Bring NDiaye on instead could have had him and MGW up supporting the striker in a 4-3-3 but the midfield three would still have been shit and just like when Jokanovic tried it, it would have been crap and ineffective.

I'd imagine that Robinson and Basham will come into the wide centre back spots on Monday and we'll stick with the same formation, but if the rest of the team plays like today, it will be crap and ineffective.

Especially the first half, did anyone else think the formation was really weird? Defensive midfield empty and often 4 up front- not that they ever got an early ball so we could hit Reading on the break.

Tell a lie- last minute of the first half was the one time, with Norwood's great ball. But in general, we looked a bit unbalanced I thought.

I suggested it last week. We can’t change at this point of the season though apparently because we look too good the way we play currently.

Just play the season out, work out who is going to stay and go, then re-evaluate
