With the amount of balls we get into the box I think a big, mobile centre forward to help Clarke out is at the top of his list. The links to Hogan are interesting and I'd love to see us sign someone of his ilk.

Not sure if these are two separate points mate, but Hogan is not a big CF.

O those wonderful days....and what a touch by Currie...

A thing of great beauty and one which is the preserve of a footballing genius.

Of all the players I've watched in my many years, I can only think of a handful who would have had the innate ability and brilliance of mind to conjure up that move in a split second . Bergkamp and Hagan maybe, then after that I'd be struggling.

Nevertheless, I'm pretty sure there would have been 'knowledgeable' supporters leaving the ground that day, such as the ones I used to follow along London Road saying " Ah thowt Currie wer poor today, ee didn't run arahnd enough for me "

So, Matej Vydra (who took Derby's penaties) is on his way (to either Leeds or Galatasaray) for around £10m so Derby can 'balance the books'.
Lewis Grabban is on loan at Villa from Bournemouth but almost certainly won't be at Villa next season (financial reasons).
Bobby Reid (who took Bristol's penalties) is in 'advanced negotiations' with West Brom for a rumoured £7m.

Which leaves Leon - for my money our player of the season last year and massively underrated. He'll need help this season, but they're the kind of clubs and fees we're up against.

There are bargains still out there. Leon and Billy are proof of this, as is Martyn Waghorn who scored 16 goals last season a not very creative Ipswich Town and Waghorn didn't cost much.

It may well be we have to go abroad for bargains if we can't afford the domestic guys or we go for the loan market, as widely predicted.

I totally agree, it might look a simple touch to many but that was the genius of the man, everything he did he made look easy, because for him it was. Absolutely exquisite touch.
Going back to Woody, a different type of player but again a master of his trade, I can't remember a single player since who could strike a ball so cleanly, especially his driven flat corners that seemed so often arrow true to a Blade forehead.
