True pal always in the middle of nowhere that place … their so called ‘local derby ‘ against Ipswich is 44 miles !
Be similar to us next season as can't exactly class the "Yorkshire derby" between us and 'Boro over 100 miles away as a derby match. Possibly Lincoln maybe their "local" team next season and not much between that and Watford!

So much depends on transfer ins and outs.

Some of the relegated teams could be picked apart, newly promoted ones could still be riding on a high.

God only knows where we end up but if the bookies have us 7th, its a spot I'd grab now.

In some folks view we have a crap manager and crap players and crap owners.

Im no wilder fan but we have a capable experienced manager , decent players and owners who've backed us so far.

In which case we've more than enough to be top 3rd at least.

Anything less is failure.

Top 3 after we went into self-destruct last summer - blimey, you're hopeful or maybe looking to lay down an impossible gauntlet to return to? I fear that Wilder is treading on very thin ice (what a metaphor for today!) after last summer, a short contract, and the knowledge that a portion of the fanbase is so weird that they want rid of you, no matter what. I find it hard to decide whether they love the club or hate it, but I do feel that they have done enough to destroy our best few years in a long time. I hope the season starts well, but accept that the pressure / hate will probably be too much and we will be into a genuine rebuild, which I've accepted and will support no matter what as a fan of SUFC. Not everyone on here can say the same, though, and please don't feel that your attempts at destabilising have been in vain - I suspect you are closer than you think. UTB

I agree with much of that.

I did say top 3rd not top 3 which is more than realistic even for us battle hardened blades .

We've learnt to take the triumphs and disasters in our stride no matter what , a less than hoped for season wont change , I'll still be there and suppose you will too .

If Wilder wants a new contract (don’t know what his plans are) he has a season to earn it. He has stated clearly where he wants the backing and how he wants to shape the squad. The only downside is if this isn’t to the mutual liking of the club owners we will be in a position of a new manager and squad adjustment next season.

To chuck open an old fashioned waiting for football debate. Is Middlesbrough classed as North Yorkshire, they have their own council and are not part of North Yorkshire council, they have their own police force area (Cleveland police) not North Yorkshire police and they have the broader Tees Valley Combined Authority. Depending on where they are classed depends if we have a Yorkshire derby match next season which if not I believe would be a first at this level in a lot of years.
They are indeed in Yorkshire; Boro is in the original North Riding which still exists.

Wouldn't be surprised if after all the drama and now stigma Southampton completely go to shit next year. Manager who inspired their dramatic upturn in form surely has to go and it seems a lot of their players are now unhappy after being chucked out of the play offs through no fault of their own and want out as well

Recently read an article about the richest 9 clubs in next season’s championship, no surprise but we never got a mention, nor did Wrexham surprisingly.
Wolves were top by a long way. Others were;
Stoke
Blackburn
Portsmouth
Norwich
QPR
Bristol
Charlton
West Ham

Lincoln are the only one with a chance of staying up based on how the club is run. Expect them to be very smart this summer.

It’s interesting which club will get caught napping and be the Leicester of next season. Wouldn’t put it past us to be in that position come Christmas.
Have said elsewhere I expect Southampton to be next season's Leicester. The fallout from the way their season ended has the potential to send them into full-on crisis club mode

Don’t mind it as a shout. Things have gone all quiet over there since it was reported that the manager was getting sacked and players were speaking with solicitors.

Should be easy to argue based on the lack of quality in the final that Soton would have romped that game had they got to Wembley.

i think 12s for us is very short after last season but obviously bookies see the wilder factor coming in to play personally i would have said 16/18s for us

It has absolutely fuck all to do with the "wilder factor", whatever that is, and everything to do with the thing that correlates most accurately with likelihood of doing well in professional football, namely "sort by resources"
