Championship big spenders quest to change FFP rules

Wolves were the only club to make a profit the other season
Made them perfect for the Chinese investors to come in and spend big without breaking ffp

its getting a bit like american football , ffp is our version of the draft pick , giving the less well off clubs a chance
We will see clubs , like villa have , go for it then be going into next season resticted by rules from trying again
One of the biggest spenders, Sunderland got relegated
Money is only of use if its spent well
And logic dictates if 8 clubs will spend big next season 50m plus for example , still at most only 3 will go up so a larger proportion 5 of the big spenders will fail, maybe 6 if a club like us millwall or preston break through

little fact

of the 15 clubs relegated from the prem over the past 5 seasons , all with wads of parachute money only 4 have gone straight back up

success rate of 26 per cent

yet most will have all 3 in top 6 , for no reason other than the money

It's Derby too going on reports this morning...
I did read somewhere that Villa were in the doodah and ANOTHER club had instructed an agent to solicit offers for all their players.

I also read that Terry had agreed a pay cut to join Derby.

That would smack of desperation from them if they can't afford what they already have, or maybe Lampard just wants to clear the decks to bring hos own men in.

Mind you, appointing Lampard in the first place has a bit of the smell of gamblers desperation about it.

I think Uncle Mel might have got a bit starstruck (think Brum and Zola).

Derby continues to prove the rule that succesful businessmaen who are football fans, leave their brains at the door when they 'invest'. Uncle Mel has spunked many tens of millions and brings in a new manager every 9 months. They are no further forward than when he took over.

Makes me laugh. Living in the Midlands, Villa fans seem to have the same sense of entitlement as them lot from the dark side. Whilst i wouldn't want a club like Villa go to the wall, i do feel a sense of karma when listening to them moan and whine......they've done it for years and years.

I give them a bit of credit, they've got a proud history and been up there long enough so it will take a while for the reality to set in. What makes me laugh though is when the poxy likes of Barnsley and Bolton have their day in the sun and develop a new sense of entitlement as to where they belong in the grand scheme of things. As for the pigs, they're in a league of their own when it comes to this sort of stuff.

I reckon we are one of the six, given our ‘Think Liverpool’ levels of investment.

....pulls pin, closes door gently.

If you don't have the resources the only choices are between stability and shit or bust.

P.S. I actually think Ipswich have done rather well with resources they have.

Having said that I've also enjoyed our 2 championships and various other promotions too, and you can't do that without the odd relegation along the way.

The point I was trying to make is that even stability can cost more than you have , staying still is going backwards when every tear there's another ex prem or chairman wanting to spend millions on a " push"

Ipswich have done ok but have stagnated, every year seams to be a struggle of some kind , not shit enough to go down , not good enough ( spend enough) to have a go .. bit pointless

Let's let them al spend what they want but scrap parachute payments for those relegated. The very thing that's supposed to help them with their loss of income.

Whatever happened to the "we have to speculate to accumulate" brigade?

Makes no difference to them they can't see past 'other peoples money so it does'nt matter' and 'it's our club' as if they pay the bills.

Be great to see some of them on the Dragons Den, with their 'investment' plans.

The sad thing is the well is becoming dry in the championship and villa and derby will struggle to get rid of any of their high earners for the amount of money they need to keep within the rules. Did I say sad?

Villa sound fucked because their man has run out of money but will be interesting to see what the likes of the pigs do who are also fucked against ffp Selling fernando, hooper banning etc is pretty pointless at this point. They might as well take the hit on a points deduction

They actually spend around 300k a week just on heir forward players and you have to wonder who the fuck would take the likes of fletcher and winnall off their hands anyway

Wilder has already said he will not gamble with the clubs future ,joining the big spenders is not the only way out of this league. We have a manager who looks to get the most out of what we've ( budget ) got,the rest is down to coaching and improving the players at the club.
A reasonable budget is obviously necessary to get the quality needed to work with but the rest is down to the manager and his coaches.
We got fairly close last season! if Wilder can plug the weakweaknesses there's no reason we can't do even better this coming season.
Wilder pushed for a bigger budget let's see what he can do with it ,going backwoods is not on the agenda Wilder will see to that.
Look forward to another exciting season ,the way we play guarantee s that, let's put all talk of going backwoods to bed and be positive about the near future with an average budget or not.

Not sure what you thought i meant, but i was referring to Steve Bruce.

Karma is the word. A bit like that untalented twat Michael McIntyre whining about having his very expensive watch nicked. You've done nothing to earn it, so suck it up, you prick.

True. How ever these fools and their money ever got together in the first place is down to sheer luck. They remind me of the tramps in a betting shop throwing it all into a FOBT or those cunts who hold up the queue when you're trying to buy a paper. 'Can I have five tickets for the Euro Millions? And a number one, a number six and a number fourteen? And a packet of roll-up tobacco. And half a bottle of vodka.'

Would that be Steve "I'm no quitter" Bruce?

https://esdating.standard.co.uk/sportheadlines/bruce-im-no-quitter-6723892.html

Apart from being a shit manager who looks like your nan, he also seems to have a selctive memory, given that he quit United, Wigan twice, Brum and Palace.

Wanker!

Ah, but he didn't quit Sunderland.

He later linked his dismissal from the managerial post with the fact that he is a fan of Newcastle United, Sunderland's bitter rivals. Link

They’re all getting rich trading stocks and shares, foreign and crypto currencies. Once they’ve made their millions they’re going to form a consortium, buy the mighty Blades and take us into the Champions League.

In typical fashion though, the ones who are eyeing us up will be investing in bitcoin now rather than 2 years ago and will be losing a fortune rather than making one. Probably within a couple of weeks of taking us over.
