As there is now a two week break and its roughly a quarter of the way though the season I thought a look at how the league is shaping up may be useful.
Firstly and most importantly the Blades. It goes without saying we are exceeding all expectations in terms of results and position, no one hand on heart surely thought we would be top six at this point, I would have been more than happy be top half. Not only that we are dominating teams even in games we lose, I expected more back to the wall performances similar to the last half hour Vs Brentford but we have not seen much of that we have been a joy to watch.
Secondly the major contenders for promotion. I won't be arrogant enough to include us in this yet, Cardiff have had a superb start under Warnock, will they have the squad to keep it up all season? that is a question that hangs over them. Wolves have looked strong it would have been fascinating to see how eleven Vs eleven would have turned out in midweek at our place. Leeds it pains me to say are my current favourites to win the League they seem to have finally got the club sorted behind the scenes. Boro and Villa are going to be a threat and Preston and Ipswich are dark horses along with us. As for Wednesday well the next quarter of the season is to coin a phrase massive for them how they go in October November could be quite a soap opera.
The bottom end and oh Dear Bolton. Look to be heading to be the first club ever to be relegated by xmas, Burton won't be far behind them by that point either I reckon and unlike Bolton if they go down I can't see them ever coming back. Who goes with them? Sunderland are a club in crisis, but even they are been made to look like Barca compared to the car crash happening At Birmingham City, the new manager there has got a similar task as to when Warnock took over here, It could be like trying to turning around the Tittanic.
In summary I think the last couple of months has confirmed my belief that The Championship is the most enjoyable division to be in and to watch in England.
Can't wait for the next chapter.
