Cause for optimism this season? The Times thinks so anyway! I'm not quite so sure :)

Sheffield United

Kevin Blackwell has picked himself up from the desolation of a Wembley play-off final defeat, after which he considered resigning, to start reshaping a side on the back of the £8 million windfall from Tottenham Hotspur for Kyle Naughton and Kyle Walker. Walker will stay at Bramall Lane on loan this season, when Blackwell will be looking for big things from Ched Evans, collateral damage from the Manchester City revolution, and Jonathan Fortune, signed from Charlton Athletic. This trio have the ability to stand out at this level. United played some great stuff last season and if they can get off to a good start, have the capabilities to win this division.

Prediction: 1

Bloody hell! That's a bit optimistic! Mind you, not sure how "well up" on the Blades the author of this article is: "United played some great stuff last season". Hmmm... Very briefly, we did. I wonder how much he means when he says "some".

I thought the same thing, haha.

I wouldn't count on his opinion if he's saying that.

Obvioulsy missed a fair few of the games I went too then. Still nice to read soemthing positive about the Blades in the press.

personally I'm worried, we do look stronger as a team with more width, but have you seen who we are up against, I can't see any one team running away with it the top six are gonna be really really tight this year

If it's from the Times it could have been written by Martin Samuels. He loves the Blades really, almost as much as cake and beards :D

Considering that Fatty Samuels now "writes" for the Daily Mail, it's highly unlikely, and the last writer The Times had who is a Blade resigned from there earlier this year.;)

The Northern Infidels who have cheated my lovely bubbly Shammers out of a few bob, even though we're all law-abiding, non-cheating chirpy Cockernee Sparrahs, clearly used voodoo dolls to get to third in the Division Which Must Not Speak Its Name.

The football authorities reached the proper conclusion in allowing another claret and blue clad side to join their cousins in The Only Worthwhile Division. It's just a shame that it had to happen on a football pitch. Oh, just think of the pies I could have munched through had Buer ... Bear ... Burnt ... that lot I've never heard of gone up through a court case. By the way, I've got my season ticket now. It's the Bobby 'West Ham Won The World Cup' Stand.

Not in it; I am it.

Anyway, they'll poison the away team with 'relish', and then sue them for faking death. That's right! Faking death! That's what they do you know, unlike we righteous jellied eels ... mmmmm ... eels ... eaters who can do no wrong, and never have done, despite what everybody else on the planet has said and proved.

I've had pies tonight. Thought I'd have a change.

Prediction - 985412658745289th. So ner.

That could be close. I couldn't pick up the very end as he'd been given a 'wafferrrrrr thin mint' as the spirit left .....

Once I saw that he predicted leicester to finish 6th among other predictions, I began to realise that these predictions were made by someone who knew very little about the championship. I really cannot see us finishing any higher than 4th or 5th....

I prefer the ESPN table, it has Barnsley going down
