Seen something on another thread about budgets etc and wanted to put down that I think not only as CW brought us success but he's done it a reduced budget and getting more transfer fees in.

I've read we have the 3rd/4th biggest budget after Charlton / Bolton. We have the biggest attendances so my assumption is we have the most money in.

Transfers: Profit £2.20million approx*

*this is a guess

We have sold Ramsdale/Che Adams / DCL. If they all went for £1million(which I think is very reasonable assumption can imagine most have additional fees depending on games etc. So £3 million in transfers into the club.

We paid for Carruthers/JOC/Hanson/Moore which if I guess cost £800k.

We have a transfer profit of £2.20 million.

Wages: Have come down*

* please note this is me guessing players wages. Could be miles away.

Mark Howard > Simon Moore
Bob Harris > Chris Hussy
Harrison McGahey > James Wilson
Jay McEveley > JoC
Florent Cuvelier & Ryan Flynn > Carruthers
Jose Baxter > Mark Duffy
Alex Baptiste > Fleck
David Edgar & James Wallace > Leon Clarke
Conor Sammon > James Hanson
Dean Hammond > EEL & Lafferty
JCL > O'Shea
Callum McFadzean & Kieran Wallace > Jake Wright.
Diego > Riley

John Brayford & Woooford - if Brayford wages are reported/ guessed to be 10k a week and Woolford on 4K? then CW has brought the wage budget down by about 750k.

Feel free to discuss about the players etc I am only guessing, and some will agree disagree etc.

We all know CW has done an unbelievable job as manager but to do it with less money than his predecessors is outstanding.

Yeah, I'd disagree to a certain extent with some of your figures. I think we've spent a touch more, maybe around 1 milllion and some of your wage assumptions are possibly wrong; Clarke, J o'C and Fleck will be on a hefty whack while others like Lafferty, Carruthers and Moore will not be on peanuts.

Not sure on exact figures, but think the wagebill may be quite comparable overall.

BUT, I do agree with the sentiment of your post and that Wilder has done an incredible job with the budget available to him. Especially when people were getting overly excited about what was happening at Charlton in the close season and their signings.

Have you factored in signing on fees for the free transfers and loan fees for the loan players?

Given that the fee for Simon Moore was widely reported as being £500k we only spent £300k on Carruthers, O'Connell and Hanson?

Really?

Wow, what good business.

Whether CW has spent a little more, a little less, or approximately the same as the the recent previous managers is for the most part irrelevant.

What he has done is his job and got us promoted. Something the others fkers couldn't do

But the players she's compared them with were on good money too, for example, Edgar and Wallace would have cost us more in combined wages than Clarke, Cuvelier and Flynn would have been loads more than Carruthers.

Plus, the incoming transfer fees are lower than the reported fees of around £1.5m for DCL, £1.75m for Jug Ears, £1m for Ramsdale.

Okay I will amend mate, I will change the fee that I guessed to the reported fee. Can you tell me the reported fees for Carruthers / Hanson / JoC. Also can you give me the reported fees on all sales too?

Alan Biggs said Moore was our biggest signing at £300k.

Not a clue, but what on earth is the point of starting a thread built entirely on guess work?

Personally I prefer to deal in facts.

Btw you've left Lavery, Lafferty, Clarke and Hussey off your list too.

Because it's Sunday, we're bored and there's only so many threads we can start praising Wilder and Knill and laughing at our rivals who came on here earlier in the season to take the piss?

That could be it.

A boring Sunday morning, rain's threatening, shops and garden centres are closed, so I'm using my analytical head to pick holes in numbers and theories that just don't add up because I've got nothing better to do. ;)

Think some of the disclosed fees were possibly down graded more than reality as people didnt believe we would spend any money and probably went for the lowest sum possible
Some will be more generous with the guesses next season as McCabes stock has risen with some

The simple fact is we will be bringing in more money so can spend more money
do we need to make it 20 million plus to go for it
I wouldnt think so,
Wilder got us up with a nett gain on transfers, hes astute and will match say wednesday blowing 9 million on Rhodes by getting one just as good for 1.5 m
Its the sensible way to do it
Let the team as a whole do the work , like its done this season , not rely on one or two

Wilder told everyone "he was here to get the wage bill down", which I'm very confident he's done. Particularly pre January where we added a few whn we looked like we had a realistic chance of automatic. I think the wage bill will be down several million with out of contract players who were on ridiculous money. Our incoming players have been signed on the cheap. No single player has cost "more than 300k". We've also got big fees for DCL, Ramsdale and Adams, and loaned out Brayford.

Carruthers - Out of contract at the end of the season.

Hanson - Same

Hussey and Clarke - Bury needed to get big earners off wage bill.

Fleck and Duffy - Free, as out of contract.

O'Connell and Moore - Less than 300k each.

O' Shea - taken over final months of Chessie deal - until the end of the season. Low risk signing

Lafferty - token fee.

Lavery - Pigs had to take a fee or risk the tribunal giving them next to nowt.

Wright - next to nothing

Several loan signings who aren't big, established names like Baptiste, Sammon, Edgar.

Transfer fees arent Profir and Loss items.

We could still be paying part of Brayfords wages , and as has been said, there are players missed of your list.

Other than wages and pitch maintenance it's hard to see where expenses could be cut. Even with extra income I'd be surprised if there's and meaningful profit this year on trading.
