Celebrating goals for ever

Just had a look at the old united goals thread and noticeable in the Newcastle match that when we scored there was only 2 or 3 players celebrating with the goal scorer and within 30 seconds all the players were back in their own half ready for the restart.

This was the norm back then so can anyone remember the year when celebrating turned into all the team huddled together and taking twice as long.

Did this happen gradually or all of a sudden did it change and we were all saying, Christ they are taking a long time celebrating this one.

Really can’t remember what brought about this change

I remember it a bit in the 70s. Not like now with the rehearsed celebrations but certainly hugging each other. I think it started around then because I remember older blokes moaning about it and saying they were ‘acting like poofs’.

Exactly. I find a polite handshake or maybe even a quick thank you after being brought to orgasm is much preferable to unnecessary OTT kissing and cuddling.
