CCV

I haven’t seen the goal back but from what I can remember if CCV gets any blame for that then I don’t know what to say, if you get chance just watch Bashams positioning, it’s all wrong and sends us tits up.
In all fairness I haven't seen it back yet so I may reserve judgement in that case. But CCV does seem to slip an awful lot when he's turned Joao goal at the sty another obvious one. Whoever you blame why we are playing Bash at rwb when have an inform and fit Baldock on bench is a mystery to me

Cover the wingback who isn’t a wingback who was also facing the wrong way? Yeah, he should’ve read that.
Agreed, plus we had three defenders in the box as the cross came in. One should Have been tight on the ex-pig. One going for the cross, t'other
doing any of both.

So we either stick with a player who isn't good enough, or let him go and get someone else in who may or may not turn out to be good enough?

Not good enough or just in really bad form? He was good enough when we were on a good run.

I get playing Bash at RWB easy option to get Fleck back in the side and add some height to the defence but CCV is prone to dropping a bollock and his distribution is poor are we just playing him to appease Tottenham?? That said Carruthers is toss!!!!!

No he wasn’t, Madine stayed over on JOC side with Stearman close by, ALF was on CCV side all the time, it’s made up bullshit mate by many people who don’t watch the match and just have agendas.

Just because CCV came off doesn’t mean he did anything wrong, he didn’t. The man I was more surprised at getting bullied was JOC, he had a mare in that first half.

I didn’t once allude to the fact that CCV came off because of performance. It was clearly tactical - as I pointed out, of getting Basham out of that RWB position.
CCV didn’t do anything so wrong that would warrant immediate subbing.

Agreed on that point re: JOC. Would have expected him to have stood up more to Madine.

The point I was making was that the back line of 3 were bullied by that horrible prick all game and we didn’t have an answer (missing central hardman?) to him.
CCV did struggle with Madine when he had to deal with him. I saw that before he was taken off (unless ALF became taller and more Geordie chav looking. Madine did move across the back line).

I had no issue whatsoever with CCV.
Some stuff is harsh on him as he is a young kid however that doesn’t detract from that fact that he is raw and as such is always going to make mistakes.......which at this level are more costly than say in the league below.

As I pointed out, he would be ideal cover for us if we were able to identify and bring in someone who could step in right away

One thing I’ve noticed though, for someone his size, he does seem to struggle more against physical opposition than you’d expect.

Fair enough mate.

I didn’t meant to allude to you saying that regards him coming off, that was more a general point mate.

I too think he comes in for unwarranted stick, including today and I wouldn’t blame him if he fucked off to a club who wants to play him more often to develop him better. I think he’d be much better in a back four with him and JOC there, not having to worry about getting forward too much.

Must’ve been watching a different game. CCV did nothing wrong until being took off, it was Basham that was at fault for goal, and constantly out of position.
Yes he isn’t a rwb but how many times has he played there now? Shouldn’t be caught out of position every time the opposition come forward

I think what’s missing is a proper leader inbetween JOC and CCV. To both develop and supplement both players. A Morgan type defender between them.
Unfortunately those kind of defenders are hard to come by!

Once again a CCV slip has cost us a goal buy him some new boots or drop him.

I'm glad you think it shouldn't be too hard to find a player:

  • Who would come to us on loan
  • Who we can afford to loan
  • Who is good enough to play in a team currently 6th in the Championship
  • Who can play RCB in a back 5
  • Who can play in our system
  • Who has the pace and stamina to get up to support attacks and back to defend
  • Who has the skill to overlap, put balls in and shoot

Piece of cake.
I reckon Stearman can play better in that position with wright at CCB

Basham already a starter there, so we are looking for backup

CCV isn't the answer

Fulham goal 2 as well. its because he gets out of position and then slips trying to get right

This

The goal came from Basham being caught out of position and they had a couple of chances after from the same situation. CCV was then hooked off because of it, I’d have been very pissed off with Basham if I were him

I have some sympathy for CCV due to him being young and learning his trade. Wilder should not have started him yesterday and from here on in he should only come on as a sub. If we don't send him back early that is.

This is the downside to getting youngsters on loan from Premier League clubs. They are not the complete package yet and you can't build your first team around them.

Wilder needs to up his game after the last window
I think you'll find it ain't Wilder who needs to up his game, he has worked absolute wonders considering what he has had to work with in terms of budget ever since being appointed here.

I'm surprised Lafferty is on the bench ahead of him. Not that CCV deserves to be ahead of him. Maybe Stevens is carrying a knock?
