I'd disagree. He came in and added a spark in our promotion push - especially some of his cameos from the bench. You could argue he kept Duffy on his toes.

If we were discussing him this time last year, I'm sure people wouldn't be questioning his signing.

He's just not been good enough for a top 10 Championship side.
Poor signing attitude problem lost possession in crucial positions and left us exposed too many times.

Carruthers is a good footballer who did a good job last year but Wilder doesn’t seem to value him in the championship which is fair enough. We move on to bigger and better things.

I still think Carruthers could cut it at a championship club with the right side in the future, I’ve always rated him and thought he didn’t get a proper chance this season but it was understandable.

It's seemed to me that Samir is indeed a classy footballer but one who doesn't suit our current style of play, so good move for him.

To be absolutely fair, I thought he was pretty crap. Better a cricket maybe.

He was a good signing for us at the time and no one can point the finger at Wilder for signing him. 300k was great value for a player like him. Even after an unsuccessful spell here he'll at least retain that value.

It's a top signing for Oxford. Hopefully they'll increase his value for us and price themselves out.

He has more than enough ability to make it in the Championship. Maybe he's one who'll peak late.

"He always gives the ball awaaaay, one two three four!". Shame as he looked really exciting in his first appearance.

One of those who doesn't quite do it and you put it down to not being fit enough or acclimatised just yet.
"When he gets fit" or "Wait until he's had a full pre-season" feature after every performance until you realise he just isn't quite good enough for what you were expecting.

Throw in a spot of "diving" and he leaves having disappointed, in my view. Would much prefer a straight sale to put into this summers transfer kitty as we need to be doing our recruitment now, not in January or next summer.

Really disappointed with Samir, thought when he first came he added that spark to games and at times in very short bursts looked a class act. Those very short bursts didnt really last many games and the step up to championship is obviously a step too far for him. Best thing for all this move and hopefully a couple more follow!

There's quite a few forgiving comments on this thread. Lets not beat about the bush, he was fucking wank. There's plenty of clubs in L1/2 who can afford £200k for a decent player and that none of them have signed him tells you all you need to know. Robinson's a crafty fucker too and he's picked up on this with the loan offer, probably with United still paying part of his wages, otherwise he would have signed him. This suggests to me United couldn't even give him away.

Lacks a brain and more often than not he made the wrong decision. At the start of the season he looked decent and his only problem was he was making the wrong decisions in the final third, usually when it came to the final ball. Then, as time went on he started giving the ball away all over the pitch and his confidence looked shot. Seems he doesn't have the bottle to play for Wilder, take Coutts and Freeman for example, transfer listed but now pivotal.

Unfortunately,Samir didn't buy into the 'Wilder way',naturally skillful but missing the pre-requisite of physicality, endeavour, concentration and energy these are all an absolute requirement to be a successful championship player.

Don't agree Carruthers cut it for us even in League One. A couple of nice runs and a ridiculous dive against Bolton apart, he did nothing. And he certainly isn't Championship standard.

Good league 1 player but not good enough for championship level , did a job in parts for us from the bench ( Bolton home in L1 ) but as said can’t remember any stand out performances ,
I wish the kid well but we need better than him at this level .. Luke Freeman from QPR would be a good signing as a creative midfielder
