Then take a run that's not there ,
run out the other batsman ,
then look perplexed when he gives ya grief .
Slag Utd off all you want.

But King Boycott is beyond reproach, any run out was always the other batsmans fault, ask him and he`ll tell you that

Great piece on BBC News from Abbeydale Sports Club. Spoke with his grandad and showed the Root clan's stickball heritage. Great stuff.

Played against him when he was about 12 or 13 - he opened the batting for Collegiate 4th's. He got 0 but you could tell then that he could play!

Well done Joe and best of luck to you.

One of my very favourite cricket memories is skippering a team, in the field, on an adjoining pitch to Sheff Utd v Collegiate 1st XIs at Bawtry Rd, maybe 6 or 7 years back. Laddo wasn't a regular in the county side yet, and was playing Yorkshire League instead that weekend. Big buzz that he was playing. Collegiate were batting: he made 100 and retired, in what seemed like the blink of an eye. I don't remember much about the match I was supposed to be playing in !

He was only wearing that old rag because his new Wendy shirt was in the wash.

Everyone knows they are the biggest club in the land and all right thinking people support them.

Who is the other kid and what shirt is he wearing? - just need to know how much I should hate him.

I think it is Billy Root.

No need to hate him just yet, but if he goes on to play for England, the Massive will undoubtedly claim him as one of their own. You can take a view then on the appropriate hate level.
