Can you be a linesman?

The Times online are running a training video used by referees and linesmen up at St.Georges Park offering Joe public to make the right decision in real time on offside decisions.
There are 3 levels, Sunday League up to Internationals, and I’ve just proved to myself what a crap linesman I’d make.
Just a bit of fun, we’ve all seen stupid decisions made by some awful officials but gives some idea of how close some decisions are.

It's easy doing it sat at a computer screen.

When the pressure is on with the Werthers flying past your ears, it is much harder. To make matters worse, the official FA kit with flags stitched to your socks, makes it very difficult.

On re-reading my post on this thread, what l meant was that your shit eyesight was enough to qualify you as a linesman. A little anecdote from when I was attempting to "run the line" for my son's under 16's game, was one of the other dad's shouted out mockingly & in jest "come on Lino, can't you keep up with the game?" My response was "silly sod, if I could keep up with these lads, I would still be playing myself" to a good few good natured guffaws and derision

Easy in the head, not quite so on the grass.
Always found it more difficult when action was close to where I was on the line when had to see who ball had come off in case of throw-in whilst seeing where everybody else was in case of a resulting through ball.
And that was without worrying about whether any foul had been committed in a challenge
