With the in-different start we've had,can we still challenge for promotion?I still haven't given up hope, although i accept its going to be a tough ask.

I think there'll be a couple of times during the season where we'll be sniffing around the play offs.
I expect us to finish about 8th again though.
Don't see a really big gap between us and anybody else, so change is possible. It comes down to whether Speed can lift the team out of its current hesitant approach. We will need loans plus new blood in Jan, but with Wright and De Laat it is clear that he has a good sense of quality. Just too early to write anything off - I just remember how close Blackwell came the first year when we all thought we were going nowhere.

How can anyone talk about possible promotion?
We are struggling to put together back to back wins
We have only scored 5 goals in 10 games
We have a paper thin squad packed with loanees yet again
We do not have any creative midfielders
our powder puff strikers lack pace
Our defenders are prone to match losing gaffes on a regular basis
We are currently 4 places off the bottom of the league on the bacl of two 1-0 defeats
Lets get the team playing together, scoring more than 1 goal every two games and get in a few more permanant players before any talk of play offs or promotion material.
Get real Blades fans, currently our league position reflects the teams performance - We are where we deserve to be !!!
Just to remind you under Blackwell we've been nowhere- we are still in the second tier
As long as you pick a high enough standard you can make anyone a failure. My point was we did see a big change when Blackwell came in so, this early in the season, it is simply too early to know. Speed has made some good choices, so I choose to wait and see. Under Blackwell we did get close while under Robson we were going nowhere. We've been in the second tier , or worse, for a long time, so I'll take competitive - I won't live and die by promotion. So I also chose to hope for better things and am as likely to get what I want as any who glorify in the prediction of failure.
I really am not bothered about whether we challenge for promotion. I want to go to BDTBL and be entertained. See a competive game of football were the best team wins that hopefully will be the blades but it might not be.
I don't miss being part of the PL circus, it's bent and corrupt. For every Arsenal high theres a Liverpool fix.
I'm enjoying going to the lane again, long may it continue. The football is better still not there but I can see the green shoots. A lot of the moaning gits that sat around us have stopped going, though still populate the forums!
Why do we go to watch football? For me it's an opportunity to spend some time doing something i enjoy with my dad and one of my lads, we go for a drink and meet up with friends and family, go and hopefully enjoy a competitive game of football and then spend the journey home discussing what we'd just seen. A thoroughly good Saturday afternoon, win lose or draw, the journey home can be a lot quieter after a defeat!!
