Can We Hit 100?

85 points on the board - 15 to play for

Does anyone think we can realistically hit treble figures? And if not, who would stop us doing it, Bradford perhaps?

What an amazing achievement it would be!
Why not... Think once we get over the promotion line we'll relax a lot more and go for the title.

100 points doesn't matter to me much.

The title however, does. We've led this division since December and are the best team by a distance. Promotion is obviously the first priority, but anyone who says that winning the league has no significance are frankly talking bollocks. It's a moral imperative that our name is on that title.

It would round off the season nicely, if so.

Have we hit triple figures before?

Just out of interest, does the team who wins the league get a bigger £ prize than second?

No reason why not.

It'll be something that Wilder and the players could have in mind.

The only two games I'm not very confident of winning are the next two, away at Northampton and Vale. But we're more than capable of winning both, and with the title as an incentive, we'll certainly be trying to do so.

I'd settle for just staying unbeaten though. That would make it 17. Then we'd have to go how many unbeaten next season to break the record - 4 or 5?

Our highest is 96 in 1981-82.

If you meant goals, yes 102 in 1925-26 when defenders were still perplexed with the new offside rules
I meant points, but that's good to know!

I'd suspect 90 goals is probably where we will end up.

Think it would be 5 to equal it, 6 to beat it.

I know were up, but i want it mathmatically , iv'e had a long journey to wembley twice , then the boys can take us to that
100mark nice bonus ,
i count my old division numbers , they change to much , would be nice to win the third , we have not had that yet and pray we will. never be back again

Probably not. We're capable of winning any of our remaining games but it's football and the odds of something going wrong in one of them to see us drop a couple of points or more is always significant.

One game at a time. Do our bit on Saturday and we'll get the promotion celebrations we deserve. Then look to win the league. Then we can look to set records.

Won't get 100 points sadly, that would be a superb achievement.

I know we are capable of winning 5 on the bounce, but I would say we are bound to drop points in at least one game. Probably home to Bradford, or away at Northampton. If Bolton had dropped a couple on Saturday and were 8 behind there would be a little less pressure and the lads would relax.
IMHO, the team have known they were promoted for a few weeks, they have had the target of winning the league for a good while and won't settle for less. Hence the odd bit of nerves flying about.

Tricky then, but possible, and a good additional incentive.
I think it includes a League Cup win, so if we can win an equivalent League Cup game early next season it would be 4/5 League games to stay unbeaten.

They do in the Premier League. I would assume they do in League 1 however for us it would be negligible.

I've fixed the Statto Table (below), by putting the missing Walsall result at Bramall Lane in and moving it to the right place (November 29th). It just emphasises what an amazing run we would have had this season without that loss, which we never deserved. If we had just drawn that game we would have gone 22 games unbeaten from August 20th to January 14th - and that was Walsall away of course - but at least we did deserve to lose that one with that crazy 20 minutes when we conceded 3 goals.

Anyway, as you say - unbeaten to the end of the season will keep us in the winning frame of mind to kick off next year. Tufty likes a bit of momentum.

If we beat Chesterfield, we have done the double over 10 teams and 18 teams have failed to beat us.

That is an object of rare beauty. Please produce a final version after Sunday, whatever the result.

I can't see past an emphatic victory on Sunday which is not like me at all

8/11 Blades to win both halves
4/1 win by 4 goals or more

verdict:

2-0 h/t
4-0 f/t

I have been known to be wrong before tho, although not very often :D

If I am honest, I think Wilder might have an Italian mentality when it comes to this game. He will want 100 points but I doubt he kicks a team when they are down. As much as I would like 100 goals, I don't want us to embarrass Chesterfield on Sunday. A few Ola's and a 3-0, few squad player run outs for me.

So close...100 points, look nice in the record books that... :)
