Aye definitely looks a decent prospect. I can see us more likely to get Moncur though.

The last player I suggested from Luton , went to Burnley for close to ten million , and that's when they were still in the conference .
Good shout though .

Do you mean in the same window as that transfer or way back before he was worth that much?

Not bad going if the latter.

Way , way back , before Luton got promoted back into the league .
The next season Brentford bought him .

Gray.

Saw him play this season for Burnley and is like a £10m version of Sharp. Gives everything, holds it up quite well despite not being a giant, and has a fierce shot that I would not want to be caught in front of.

We could have got him for half million few years back , wonder where we'd be now . :(

Good player, dublin. It also shows what we'll be faced with if we're promoted. No longer will it be enough to haggle over shoe-string fees, the Championship is now ripe with million pound deals, and with our history of paying meagre amounts, I wonder if we'll see a change of approach from the board, or will it be a case of hanging on and trying to avoid relegation?

Too true brother , how ya keeping ,
It'll need rebuilding when we go up this year , but let's worry bout that next season ,
let's enjoy the roller coaster ride that this year will bring .
100 points , 100 goals , promoted by paddies day . One day it'll come true , one day . :(

League 1.

Someone would have offered £500,001 the week after we bought him, and Kev would snapped their hands off.

Furthermore, the £1 profit could have been converted into our wage budget currency, for 2 Mars Bars.

We'd never even consider an investment like that. Hopefully times have changed and enough evidence has finally mounted up to convince our board that spending fees on younger players is the way to go as opposed to paying high wages.

£8m for Gray last year was crazy at the time but since then inflation in football has only increased, he's had an excellent season and Burnley have got promoted, so it looks like good value now. I fully expect him to do well in the PL, most Championship strikers stepping up seem to now. No doubt he'll get in the England squad too.

Only if he signs for one of the " bigger " clubs , just look at the shite representing our country , we'd have been better sending some championship players to the euros at least they'd have the balls to get stuck fucking in .

have like for the best username i've seen for some time :D
Cheers
Interestingly that fount of all knowledge Dikipedia states:
"Dennis now runs the football school at Center Parcs, Elveden Forest, and where he has worked for over twenty years following retirement from professional football"

Notwithstanding the contradiction that in order to have retired he had to be (& was never) a footballer in the 1st place, is there any wonder that Norfolk / Suffolk rarely produce players ?

.

Early 20s Luton midfielder, played over100 games for them and a scoring ratio of almost one every three games which is excellent for a middy. What's not to like.... gets tin hat ready !

What's not to like... nothing as far as I can see. Good ability and faultless attitude. Out of contract too. Would be excellent competition in any area of midfield. But I can't see us signing a player like that when we couldn't guarantee him a starting place.

Judging by recent suggestions, I expect someone coming along shortly to post that Luton have 'bucket loads of money' and there's no way he'd come to little Sheffield United.

I think he's a great player from the little I've seen of him. Looked great as a 17/18 year old playing for Cambridge (I think) on loan against Man U.

Would be just the sort of player to provide competition in midfield where we are light, and one that could step up a level.

Some championship clubs have been linked in the past tho. So I suspect we might struggle to get hold of him.

Linked with Barnsley.

If Holmes is a no, could do worse thsn a midfield goalscorer.
