but I thought we had no ambition and the Prince was the worse owner ever.
When will some our fans ever learn?

These idiots will now probably be going overboard about it being a great window, they go from one extreme to another
but again “stay calm”, we‘re still not good enough even if Archer arrives.

We need to wait until 1st Sept, to see who else we bring in…..then we can all make valid positive or negative criticism.
The fact remains, the pre planning for recruitment has been diabolical. That was most people's issue. We've still thrown away 6 valuable points

The fact remains that we are not responsible for all aspects of this and indeed any deal.
this is the player that our manager wanted and he was obviously prepared to wait for him, yes unfortunate that he was not available for the start of the season but I think the reasons were out if our control.
but if it suits you to moan then keep moaning !!

He’s been training full time with Villa, playing practice games etc.. are you telling me training with us will get him fit but not villa? Nonsense he’s a professional athlete and is ready to go, may not last the 90 minutes but is ready. If he doesn’t start Sunday he will start next week, so a weeks training with us will make him ready to start next week but not this week? yeah ok.
He also played in our pre season games

So...we're paying 18m and Villa are obliged to buy back for 20m if we go down? I can't see that being right and if i were villa, I wouldn't agree to that. I don't see the benefit from their side? If we were paying 20m and thay had a buyback for 18m I could get my head around it but it makes no sense for it to be the other way around?

What if he has a terrible season or, suffers a serious injury? Villa still have to buy him back for 20m?

He plays 12 months of Premier League football, something he will not get with them.

If he does at least average, then he’ll already be a 30m player. They’ll get him for 20m.

They would probably happily keep him for an additional 12 months anyway but aren’t going to afford him the games.

If we do stay up, then he’s of value to us, the slightly inflated figure of 18m doesn’t look too bad anymore and he’s probably going to cost Villa about 35-40m. But to be right, Villa are probably in for more proven players anyway.

What if the Blades and Villa get relegated 🤯
Then Archer will rip up the Championship for Villa next season. He is real quality, way too good for the Championship so I would absolutely love to have him back if we both go down. But after this season I think Archer will have no issue finding PL teams looking for him. I really believe he is an outstanding player

Happy with this. No point shitting on the club until we know the facts of the deal though.
Personally, I find it hard to believe we would agree to the £18m/buy back £20m deal unless we are really desperate. As If we get relegated he would probably be our number one transfer target!

Seems to be a pretty low risk deal for us regardless of outcome:

Stay up, Archer scores goal - he stays and value rockets
Stay up, Archer doesn’t do well - probably the outcome with the biggest downside, but pretty unlikely we stay up without his goals. Have another year of prem money and still a talented asset on our hands
Go down, Archer scores goals - shame we lose him but regain all the money plus 2 million extra to reinvest in the squad
Go down, Archer doesn’t do well - get back 20 million to reinvest and avoid a Brewster situation and further financial worries

If someone can answer this then thanks, if Archer has a brilliant season and scores 10+ goals and we stay up, then do Villa get to buy him back and are we FORCED to sell? or what’s the crack
It is not clear from the reports, however, Villa said they will not sell him without a buy back clause. I suspect that the buyback is 20m if u are relegated and then probably circa 30m/35m if u stay up and we want him back

I think we are down regardless. Rather take a punt on prospect who could get us back up than a gamble on a big loan who is gone in May
Played 2 matches with a paper thin squad, young kids as back up,7/8 new players to bed in . Have you seen some of the shit stuff some of the premier league teams have been playing ? Looks to me as we are signing good potential players to cope, let’s see with fingers crossed.

If you rate him this highly why do you think he can't get in at Villa?

How would he be our number one target if we got relegated?

If some of the terms being thrown around are correct it's a really nice deal for us, well worked.
